So why do you need to involve an outside person? What kind of information to they have on you? Do they have a home address? Plate number? Photo? Blue dress? It probably wouldn't be a good idea to post what you have to loose. But maybe you could talk about what the blackmailer wants? If the blackmailer has any sense a reverse directory will only lead to a burner phone, but you might get lucky. Since you don't know who it is, either you have taken risks with multiple people or they are fishing. Which do you think fits your situation better?

What is the blackmail? Pay money or get exposed to a significant other?

Just block the number and forget about it. 99% chance the person will just move on.

What they are doing now (causing you anxiety) will continue as long as it gets a response from you. The more you communicate the worse it will get. The only way to stop it is to stop the communication. If the person actually follows through on their threat you can always deny deny deny. Unless of course you allowed pics to be taken or some other irrefutable evidence.

I got in a similar situation one time and I lied to the blackmailer telling her that I came clean with my spouse about what I did and now she is on the war path and wants to meet with her (the blackmailer). Never heard from the blackmailer again.

My guess would be that it's a app based number or burner. Willing to engage and see if I can help but agree to the earlier post. Just stop communication and if it is about a SO then tell them you came clean to your SO. Then let them know your alerting the authorities because they are committing a crime and then block them. Obviously you probably don't want to do that but they don't know that.

I took some advice from here and just blocked the number after threatening to call popo. Just going to chalk this up as a lesson to think with the right head and some people are shitty.

Download a picture that looks close enough to you or at least your age range to pass. If someone absolutely ask for a pic then send that one to them or avoid them because it's typically a scam. #3 Don't ever use your real name (this shouldn't have to be said) #4 Never park right outside the room. Park in another parking lot and walk over or on the other side of the hotel and walk around so they can't get your plate or car description. #5 Always trust your gut and not your little head. #6 It's been said "You should've told the blackmailer that Extortion and Blackmail carries 25 years to life and you're seconds away from calling the feds." I mean seriously look up the definition of it and embarrassment or monetary harm for extortion is a pretty serious offence (way more than prostitution) and normally makes them go away.

I no longer monger, but when I did I would get there early and drive around the place looking for "white vans" and suspicious looking cars. The bust team for things like prostitution are pretty big and they have to get them and the equipment there somehow. Luckily prostitution is getting less political and I would say will soon be legal, so politicians and sheriffs don't get as much clout from doing bust as they use to so they aren't after it as much. Hopefully they re-concentrate on sex trafficking and especially underage sex trafficking and stop that which will quit giving mongering it's bad name.
