For me, there's no secret ingredients that make me believe that an ad is real. You have to assess the ad as a whole and get a feel for the vibe that it projects. There definitely are warning signs, but if an ad doesn't throw any red flags you just have to go with your gut. Over time, your gut gets better at picking winners and losers.

Here are some warning signs that I look for. Every veteran hobbyist probably has their own list of warning signs but many items will be the same:

1. No phone number. If there isn't a phone number, it's a scam, with very little exception. No phone number, no dice.

2. No rates, or no link to a personal website that includes rates. Providers don't like discussing rates on the phone and would rather refer you to an ad then verbally discuss rates.

3. Ad is too explicit and/or graphic. Legit providers will not go into graphic detail of what you can expect during your encounter

4. Picture is too good or is clearly a model. If the provider is posting glamour photos that were clearly taken in a studio, and they don't have a personal website or an ad on some of the better known escort sites, that's a red flag. If the chick is really hot, doesn't have a personal website, doesn't have any reviews, and is ONLY posting on CL/BP, it's probably TGTBT.

There are more things than this list, but these are the easy ones to look for. Like I said, it's more about the vibe of the overall ad. An ad could conceivably pass all of the tests above but still not feel right. Not for any reason that I can put my finger on, but my gut just says that's somethings wrong.

Legit providers know the warning signs too, and they know how to craft ads that won't throw any red flags to a veteran hobbyist. Of course, it's always possible that you get a newbie provider that's completely legit that just doesn't know how to write a good ad yet.

So if an ad passes the tests above, you've done your research and the phone number and picture are coming back clean, but you still can't find any reviews, now you're into TOFTT territory. I move onto the verbal test at this point. I'll call the provider to find out what her availability is, but really I'm viewing this short call as an interview. Can she put together coherent sentences? Is she nice and pleasant and seems like she genuinely wants to see me? Is there a lot of background noise on her end, like babies crying and dudes talking? Does she ask me details about what I'm looking for? Assuming the provider passes the verbal test, now I simply have to decide if I'm in the mood to take one for the team. This depends highly on what she looks like and how much say the little head has in the vote.

This is a business and I expect providers to have good customer service skills, no different than a sales person that's helping me try on shoes. If a provider can't make me feel like a valued customer while I'm talking to her on the phone, then I'll take my business elsewhere.
