He posts on his Facebook about the place and how he is fighting to keep his place a legit massage place and that he won't allow extras ever. That's why I've never made the trip to go there.

That's why he's hired only attractive female "reiki masters" instead of both male and female LMTs--because he wants to operate a legitimate massage only establishment. I don't think so. Either this guy intended his place to be less than legit and for some reason changed course or he's intentionally duping mongers to go in there hoping for more, knowing that the options in Kalamazoo are pretty slim. Lotus isn't phenomenal, but's it's better than being left less than satisfied by this place or the DIY options, IMO.

There's another Lauren in Grand Rapids who's 100 percent woman and excellent. Not to be confused with this Kalamazoo Lauren. Kalamazoo Lauren posts in the GR STG listings too sometimes, but they are not the same at all. This one in Kalamazoo is one to avoid. The one that's actually based in GR and, more importantly, actually biologically female I highly recommend.

I noticed Beautiful Life is now called Mei Li Massage. Anybody know if the offerings and menu has changed or is this just a case of the same people hanging out a different sign?

Google refers to Mei Li as "formerly Beautiful Life" so I thought maybe it was new. I tend to be in GR more than Kzoo, so I'm not as familiar with all the local establishments in Kalamazoo. But based on past reviews, it appears these were (and maybe still are?) two separate, but related places. And I assume Mei Li is also DIY, which isn't what I'm after. Thought maybe I'd stumbled across a new option, but don't think so.

I've had a couple of recent experiences I thought I'd report on. Went to Lotus again. I was a walk-in again, but no wait or being told to come back in a few minutes this time. I was able to be seen right away. I did 30 minutes this time and think I'll stick with that. It got the job done and seems about right. I had a different provider this time. Typical Lotus / AMP experience. Not as funny as MD 2020's description on this page, but similar. The massage wasn't as intense as my previous one at Lotus, but it wasn't bad and the finish was nice.

I also recently stopped by Asia Spa in Hartford. I really don't know what to make of this place. I think I was the first one to review this place. I'm in the area semi-frequently and decided to TOFTT. And my first trip didn't disappoint, nor have my other trips. This recent one was my third or fourth time there. I know a few mongers have reported bad experiences there and I think one guy was even turned away, but mine haven't been bad. But they haven't been awesome either. First, I've seen the same provider every time I've been. I even went during the day before noon this time just to try to get someone different and it was the same lady. She's a nice lady and not bad looking--petite, with a pretty decent rack for being a petite Asian lady. But I was hoping for some variety or maybe to get a different provider just to see what the experience would be like. But this lady seems to work night and day. Secondly, since I've seen her before, I wasn't shy about doing some OTC roaming with her fairly early in the massage. She responded with some nice teasing. But on the flip, she did the same thing she's done every time I've seen her. She did a bit more massage on me after the flip, then got near the goods, then sort of stopped and pulled back. I've taken this to mean that she's encouraging DIY, which I've politely refused to do. But she always acts surprised when I refuse, which makes me wonder if I'm misinterpreting what she's doing. Her English is OK, but not great so that adds to the challenge. Each time she's done this, I've just said something like, "No, you do it" or "I want you to do it" and she's obliged. AMP ads are either vanilla (like this one) or explicit. They don't bother with subtle word tricks or "code". Though I guess it accidentally? Worked for them though in this case.
