I am fond of both bars right now and the girls. However $40 standard is B.S. if your just hanging out and not looking for action. It should be $20 unless the girl is being extra fun or helpful. As it is now you gotta ask each time or end up with a surprise at tab time. I few other places are testing out the $40 as well. Maybe they should push for $25 or $30 - it would meet less resistance.
The viet bars are pushing the $40 drinks because customers are buying into it and paying the $40. This is happening at some Maui bars and also on the big island. Many girls working on maui and the big island either were from honolulu or have moved back to honolulu. Many that are coming back to honolulu are trying the $40 drinks here. Viet bar on Maui, saigon nites or something like that is charging $40 drinks. One of the managers there is michelle, who worked at romantei and club velvet. I bought her 1 $40 drink but that was it. She comes back and works at mistique once and a while when she needs a break from the Maui scene. I think she or mistique probably tried the $40 drinks here to see if it would work here.
Neko, unless you get some action, next time you buy them drinks and the waiter tells you $40 a drink, tell them to forget it, that you will only pay for $20 drinks. Usually the girls and waiter will allow the $20 drinks and if they don't then better to just not spend anything on the girls and let them go on their way. If they allow the $20 drinks then tell the girl after the waiter leaves that you only pay for $40 drinks if you get some action. The girl will either say no and leave (best to lose only $20) or will allow some play, but for $40 drinks.
