You can also get a gmail account and simply never access it without using a VPN. Most phone numbers are just as traceable as an IP address.

I could send the information which was stored on my phone. In addition, I have received over 80 requests for the UTR's information and due to work requirements did not have the opportunity to reply to everyone expeditiously.

Only thing you can do is get the header info and trace it to the email server. So for example, you send an email from your Gmail, the header info will only go back to the email gateway server, which would be Google. You can test this, send an email to someone or pick a random one you received. Get the header information and go to mxtoolbox. Com and paste the text in it. You'll see it only shows the sender IP and what mail server it sent to. I'm an exchange engineer for a large company. If we could trace IP to personal computers then spammers would be arrested more. However, if you're still paranoid. There is a ton of free vpns to use. Hell opera the Web browser has a vpn built in.

That said I did freak out a couple of traveling ladies where the public IP in the email they had just sent me came back on a trace with the name of the hotel and I asked if they'd tried the diner across the street. (switches and routers can have host names and if a PTR record is there a reverse DNS lookup will yield the name) .

The moral here guys is to remember that your friendly IT sysadmins can always look at server logs to find where something was sent / received from or what sites you've been accessing.

And yes, if someone is really interested they can do a packet capture and rebuild every site you viewed, file you've opened, if you've modified it and how.

I've been in four legal discovery situations in the last 10 years where the guys were stupid enough to think their wives couldn't get anything on them because they used their work laptop.
