Once you have admitted to committing a crime you are at the mercy of the system.

Drive around the area once or twice and check things out. When making the pick-up, pull over into a legal stopping area. Don't pick-up girls who won't get in your car. Don't proposition girls until you've gotten out of the pick-up area. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. When in doubt, leave it alone. Think, with the big head, before you act.

I've seen guys do you-turns, block traffic or perform some other stupid act just to pick-up a girl. They are probably afraid that she'll get away. Don't worry, if you miss her the first time, you'll get her or someone else the next time.

This is fucking bullshit already. Either arrest me for solicitation or fuck off. Ludicrous to spend taxpayers money, etc to send letters to an individuals home, without proper cause or proof that the vehicle in question was indeed there. Did they snap a photo of your plate? What if an error was made by the fat cop who was sitting there with a 2 doughnuts shoved in his mouth, while jotting down your plate number? No recourse on our part, certainly. The cop was probably sitting there waiting for an opportune time to solicit the girl himself, while e shootings and rapes were going on just around the corner. Cowards, I say!

However, I am concerned about the ever increasing "eye in the sky" cameras in Camden. Big brother now has the ability to monitor the license plates of all vehicles driving up and down Broadway. If you pass too many times in a certain time frame, they snap a photo and presto you get a letter with a photo of your vehicle, license plate, and possibly even your face! Just a thought. Anyone see that special a week or two ago regarding these cameras in Camden and their ability to zoom in amazing close? You can't even drive thru an intersection, especially in Jersey, without seeing cameras pointed in every direction. Each day more and more are going up. But relax, it's all for our safety. Sadly we are living in a Communistic country and don't even notice it yet. I feel sad for the next generation. When the drones will come into major play giving Brother to watch us from every angle feasible. The letter is a bullshit, scare tactic. IMHO, the letter is designed to accuse you of a crime (or something), without actually accusing you. Notice that nowhere in the letter does it say you committed a criminal act. You weren't even sent a ticket (like the ones given for going through a red light). There is a stigmatism attacked to the act of prostitution that most males (and females) try to avoid. They are depending on the fact that, unlike my hero Charlie Harper, most men, for whatever reason, don't want it known that they visit prostitutes.

I hate using a sitcom character to prove a point. But! If the vast majority of the viewing public thought using the services of a prostitute was so wrong; how do they account for the popularity of the sitcom character, "Charlie Harper," who promoted prostitutes in practically every episode?

Any citizen with half a brain knows that the act of prostitution, between two consenting adult is victimless. Stealing, that's a crime. Drug dealing, that's a crime. Rape is a crime. Young girls caught up in drugs not getting the help they need is a crime. A legal system blaming me for society's ills is a crime.

Sorry for the rant.

IMHO – They took a picture. That would be easy enough and the mostly likely thing.

And what we are doing is exactly what they want. They want the word about the letter, stings and what they are doing spread around. It's a scare tactic and we are a scary bunch. Few guys want something like this getting back to their wife, family or church group.

They know they have very little to fear from us. Until the ACLU gets involved or some organization takes action, chances are they'll get away with it.

Milo, be forewarned – they have your tag number and may stop you. Because it is a high crime area they could stop you just for questioning. I'm just saying. Stay safe.

Many thanks for sharing the letter, Milo. I have a different take on what is odd about this. I have read about "Dear John" letters as a police tactic elsewhere. I have not been able to find any previous information about Philadelphia PD using it. Putting out derogatory information about someone who has not been convicted of anything is always a dubious, "slippery slope" activity for police. If someone is charged with something and bad stuff is publicized, at least there can be redress when the case is beaten and the questions of false arrest or police misbehavior can be taken up. Here, Milo has received an unsigned letter--to all intents and purposes an anonymous denunciation. There is no transparency as to who makes the accusation. Lt. Wood's name is dropped, but by no means does it hold out to be his responsibility. I suspect the letter is the individual work of some zealous officer not following policy and a bit off the reservation. If so, he or she is now busted.

Several years ago, I experienced some zany, Barney Fife behavior from a Septa Transit police officer. When I encountered him again, I got the impression that his brass was not amused by what was written about him on this board. I wish that more use would be made of this board, for police brass, the press and the public to have another source of information as to how police on the street are behaving.

This morning, my McAfee computer security scan indicated this site to be a security threat, and offered to "fix" it. A bit of research indicated that Norton and AVG rate the site safe, and that McAfee is conspicuously vague as to what threat they think it poses. It is fair enough for family filtering software to block this site. Also, any bulletin board can have links that lead into danger if followed--particularly ones having to do with enticing videos. I suspect that someone at McAfee is a would-be censor.
