Yeah. I never went through as bad as what Lowly just did, but I had similar experiences last year and so have seldom AMPed. Maybe I'll try again but I just had a shitty night so it might be awhile.

I just wanted to ring in on this subject. I have also been treated this way at amps. However, I can see both sides argument. For them it is a risk with every new customer. In essence we could just bolt once we are done because what are they going to do, call the popo? For us guys we shouldn't be giving it upfront, does a waiter ask for his tip upfront? No he gets tipped accordingly for his service after the meal is completed. The approach that has worked for me is to put $ out there and say I will tip the rest according to service. I think it's fair for both sides, she realizes you are not going to rip her off and must work to earn the extra tip.
Now if I have seen a provider in the past and am asked for it upfront this would set me off. I feel like I have established trust and there shouldn't even be a mention of $.
That's just my take and am throwing it out there.
I wish TH would wake up and improve these consistent areas of concern:
1) stop upselling-ask once if I want 4 hand massage or something else, then quit
2) stop the endless talking in Thai during a 4 hand massage or answering the cell phone in the middle of a 2 hand massage
3) clean the place up
4) wash the towels because they feel like they are full of oil-or change the detergent you use
