Operational Security tips
Here are some thoughts to tighten up your privacy and anonymity to consider. Not sure where to post this, but in this day and age surveillance is getting out of hand. My hope is these tips may assist.
Essential tools for trying to protect one's privacy and security while roaming about:
1. Get a burner phone, or at least a burner app. Pay cash for the device and do not use a credit card. Do not link to any personally identifiable info. (like real cell number or email).
2. Get a separate encrypted email account. Proton mail is based in Switzerland and offers good options.
3. Get a good VPN (not free) and or use TOR to mask your real ipaddress.
4. Do not use Chrome, Safari, or any Microsoft browsers. Use Firefox or TOR browser. Add the following extentions- privacy badger, NoScript, https-everywhere to increase privacy. Disable history saving. Never accept 3rd party cookies, Delete cookies every time you use the browser.
5. Do not use your primary Iphone or Android device to surf websites unless you know what you are doing. Too much metadata is recorded and shared with too many unknowns. I deleted facebook for this reason.
6. Use VPN on phone device too.
7. I prefer linux as an OS but if you use apple or microsoft- use vmware or virtual box and set up a linux VM just to browse. This can save your ass as you can delete the VM and reinstall in a snap. Virtual box is free and so are the linux operating systems. Debian, Manjaro (easiest out of the box based on ARCH linux) or Ubuntu.
8. Use the app Bleach Bit to erase artifacts on computer. This is the app Hillary Clinton's team used to sanitize her servers.
9. Mind your license Plate on car. If you are going somewhere shady. Remove from car in put inside car so its tougher to spot. Or hide all together until you leave the area.
10. Update all the time all apps and OS.
11. Use cash always. Never credit cards. If someone asks you to pay upfront- be weary.
