He *probably* wasn't staking out the house, and could have just parked there as a break from patrolling (it was mid-afternoon rush hour).
The neighborhood wasn't bad, pretty decent working class houses. I had parked on the street behind a beat electrician's truck that probably belonged to the dude I saw at the doorway. But my car wasn't looking beat, and my clothes and myself weren't looking worn out & ragged the way Amber was standing at the doorway shouting towards my car. I mention all that not to be a snob, but to say it clicked instantly in my head that if the cop walks over I'm going to stick out as not matching the environment.

I personally like the tall one of the bunch. But I would also have walked had I seen any sign of LE. I had situations in the Washington Blvd / Carey area like this and I immediately exited, stage left no matter how hot the girl looked.
