Hey, thanks for all your feedback. I'm using a telephoto lens that I had to buy separately. As far as settings go, the only thing I did after I bought the camera was take it out of the box, attach the telephoto lens, turn the flash off, and start shooting. None of these pics have been touched up. I know next to nothing about photography, so I haven't bothered opening the 200+ page manual to learn about all the features of this camera. Alls I know is that I have to remind myself to hold the camera as steady as possible when taking these night shots, otherwise I end up with a shot like you see below. I took a bunch of photos of Tina and Salma standing outside the t-shirt store, and most of them came out blurry like this.

That must be a heck of a camera. Those night shots look pretty good to me. I use a free downloaded Photoshop program to touch up pics. Sometimes they work out and sometimes they're worse off. I generally mess with the Brightness/Contrast and Tint/Saturation. Street lights give pics a greenish tint and I add a little more red to counter it.

I hope that you didn't mind my messing with your Tina/Salma pic a little. Salma's become my favorite sw lately ( just looking at, that is).

Thanks Baldy. I've got a Canon EOS Rebel T1i. I bought it because supposedly it's one of the better basic DSLR cameras for taking night shots. I read in Consumer Reports that it's got a "Max. ISO With Best Quality" of 1600 (whatever the hell that means). The only other cameras with a higher rating were the Nikon D90 and some other Nikon camera. The magazine says that "models with higher ISO values should excel in low light." Don't you have a Nikon D90? It's got a max ISO of 3200 (so I guess that means your camera is twice as better as mine???). Have you tried taking night photos?

I hit the track from 2am to 4am. Saw a lot of the usual suspects even though the rain started to hit around 3:15.
