I drove over to the hotel and texted her from the parking lot asking about the room number. She responded by telling me that she did not accept cash transactions with clients. She wanted me to send the balance of her donation with cash app before sending the room number. I responded that I had it in cash and could give it to her in person. I also asked her if this was a deposit scam. She said that it was not but that she was concerned about her safety. She then offered to give me the room number before I sent the balance. At that point I had no assurance that she was actually at the hotel that she sent me to or that I was exchanging texts with who I was led to believe that I was. Sending the rest of the donation amount at this point would not only have been outside the realm of taking a reasonable chance but also just plain stupid.
I immediately put up the "Deposit Scam" post to this forum (post # 2871 on 10/21/20) with my cell phone because I did not anyone else to loose a "deposit" with her. I thought that anyone considering trying to see her should know what happened.

You then most likely wait and wait and wait for a reply back that will never come because you just got scammed. Likely the scammer (could even be a guy or a group) merely Googled hotel names in the city and picked one. For these "TGTBT" ads, take a look at listing in other cities. A lot of times you'll find identical ads with same pictures posted same day covering 2-5 cities in the area. Thats a giveaway right there.
Moral of the story is this: NEVER send a deposit or contact a ad that says they require one.
