I drove by 540/ Capitol / Triangle Mall this morning and there was a girl with short dark hair at the corner in the median near the mall. Wearing bright orange sunglasses and black biker shorts. Nice tight looking body. I was on my way to a meeting and by the time I got back she was gone.

She would stand / walk the I-540 E turn lane under the overpass.

I haven't posted on here in a loooooong time, but if you click my profile and look back through my posts, you'll see that I used to post A LOT. I was very much a known quantity among the street girls in SE Raleigh. I cruised almost every day. There were times that I picked up twice a day and whenever I saw the chance to get two girls at once, that was my end all be all. I also did the massage parlors, adult bookstores, and sugar daddy sites. I used to check this site two and three times a day. Now I read it like twice a month.
I still read this board some, but I've been out of the game for a good while, at least 3-4 years. Today, I was driving up Capital and saw an obvious SW, and literally, the thought in my head was, meh. And that's when it hit me, I think I've kicked this habit. So I wanted to offer a few thoughts as a veteran of the scene and if anything resonates with anyone, then great. If not, don't flame, just keep on scrolling.
For the longest time, I've chalked my inactivity up to a diminished drive from aging, and the circumstance of being busier with work and such. But seeing that SW today and having no interest, it made me see that, at least for me, whatever I didn't have in my life at the height of my mongering is now fulfilled. I'm in my best relationship ever and am very happy across the board in all phases, moreso than I've ever been. I don't need to find thrills and fulfilment from chasing SWs because I've got happiness elsewhere.
Now let me be clear. This only applies to my situation. I'm not judging anyone else who mongers. We all have our own reasons and it varies from person to person. And I can't say for damn certain that I will never monger again. I don't think I will. I'm not going to go out looking for it. But as soon as I make some sort of hard declaration, that's an invitation to fail.
All I know is, it's such a relief not having to hide my phone from my partner, or get anxious if she needs to look at it for something. I've got absolutely nothing to hide and haven't had for some time. The relief of not having to track my other life and my whereabouts and what that story is, is huge. I could not see it at the time, but keeping up the ruse all those years was exhausting.
If the game is still your thing, then by all means, go get it. But if you're ever wondering, yes, there is life beyond and after the game. I played it for more than 20 years and came out the other side.

For many many years I have used the escort and associated hobbies to fill a void. I never was as hardcore at it as you describe, but the reasons are similar nonetheless. I always knew what I was doing was just a short term fix but it felt good and I needed that. So now I find myself midway through making real changes that will enable me to pursue the fulfilling relationships I need and want. It may not be easy but that will become a primary pursuit. Too many years were spent in the wrong situation for me. No more!

I do think you are spot on about aging. For me, the hunt is still there, but it's not front and center. There are other pursuits that are (now, at least) equal and that usually end up winning out over the pussy hunt (wasn't that an arcade game back in the 80's? Swear I played that in the mall), the reasons for which are many, but certainly the fact that the now-equally rewarding pursuits just carry with them so much less BS and lack of the possibility of getting arrested, robbed, or killed. The relationship aspect for you could be that equal pursuit. For me, it's one aspect but far from the only one that keeps me less-engaged in the chase these days. I probably speak for many.

Bingo. The steady relationship is just one part of a much bigger picture, and the aging is a BIG part. I'll go ahead and fess up that now in my early 50's, things down there don't work as fast and readily as they used to. I've got some meds to help me at home, but that's not really conducive to the street game, which leads to anxiety about it, and then I can't get it up with a SW at all, which is wasted money, etc, etc. And then certainly as we age, we get more diverse interests as our lives and income change. For example, with the gyms closed, I've made a substantial investment in biking and really enjoy that. There's only so many hours in a day and after I work, ride my bike, and take care of my family, going out to ride around for a SW just isn't high on the list.
Now I will say that I did have a nice time in Vegas last fall. I didn't go on a pussy binge or anything, but had a couple of dates. I think that when my mongering jones hits, it will be in very limited circumstances when I am out of town on my own, which isn't too often.
