I just came back Thursday night so Sat is too soon.

Parking lots near the border have been very empty due to CoVid, but they still jack up prices, like $20 for 12 hours on weekend. There are free street parking off San Ysidro Blvd behind the KFC. You can also park free for 1 or 2 days at the trolley Park and Ride lots off Fwy 5 at Palm ave exit or Iris Ave off 905 and take the $2. 50 trolley South to the San Ysidro border crossing. On the way back, remember last trolley North is 12:55 PM.
Mexico immigration.
By laws the temporary visit permit for under 7 days is free. Mexican Immigration guys know single guys cross border for girls and have money to spend, so they have been hassling guys to buy the 30-day FMM for $30 or $40, wasting hours, then just pocket the money. You can insist on the free 7-day permit, but you will waste a lot of precious time. Write down the names of the fuckers and file complaints with Mexico's federal government.
I drive over every time; nobody checks passport or sells FMM. It takes only 10 minutes to clear Immigration and hand the car to HK's valet parking, no walking in the dark, no taxi bullshit. If you go often, buy AAA's Mexico liability insurance, only $150 a year and drive over.
Taxi.
Before CoVid shutdown, HK and Tropical have free limos pick up at Ped East and Ped West. Just tip the driver 41 each and he's happy. They are in shutdown mode now and not picking up. Fair and customary taxi fare was $5 from border to HK and many would take $3. I just hate to haggle with the bullshit taxi drivers. You can book UBER for only $2.50, cheaper and safer, if your phone has data in Mexico. You can also walk, but safe only in day time. Just cross over foot bridge right outside Ped East and head for the plaza with the rotary and cross over the foot bridge over the Tijuana river and head for the Arc. La Zona is 2 block North West of the Arc.

Hong Kong and other bars' cover:
When travel overseas tt's a bad idea to follow guys anywhere for their promised good deals. Best case they get commissions from the shops at your expense; worst case they may lure you into a dark alley, beat the crap out of you and rob you clean. Just go to the business and deal directly with them. They have incentives to protect their clients.
HK has a few security guys at the front door and is not charging cover, but the meseros would push drinks after you go in, $4 for local beers like Tecate, $5 for premium brands, Heineken, Modelo, Bohemia. Fichas for girls are $9. It's customary to tip the mesero after each service, usually $1 per person max. Only HK has a wide range of beers, wines and liquors. Other bars have small selection.
Other bars are not charging covers but have much smaller selections of beers and liquors, priced about $1 less than HK. Chicago gives out a free tequila shot at the door, pretty good stuff. The door guy expects a $1 tip for that shot. Bar Tropical across from HK and bar La Caretta in the alley has 2 for 1 beer deal. Bar Valentina and Capirucha in the alley have similar deals when they were open.
If you go to La Zona often and get to know some of the hotter street girls, they may give you hot, passionate sessions no less than bar girls.
Buses from LA:
Greyhound and other bus lines pick up from LA's Mission terminal and other cities along fwy 5 South, like Santa Ana, and stop at the San Ysidro bus terminal right at the entry to Ped East, behind the Mc Donald's.
