I had read quite a bit on the boards that were available back then. There's a lot more info available now. Anyways, I had no problems and you won't have any problems if you don't do anything stupid.

Most foolproof way: When you cross the border and follow the crowd you will come to a place where taxis are picking up people (there are actually a couple of places now, depending on whether you follow a crowd of locals or a crowd of tourists). Tell the taxi driver "Adelitas Bar, cinco" and hold up five fingers. He'll drop you off in the heart of the Zona, in front of Adelitas on Cohuilla and you pay him $5. If you stick to the rectangle between Cohuilla on the North, the parallel alley on the South, Constitution on the East and Ninos Heros on the West, particularly at night, you won't have any problems (again, as long as you aren't acting like an asshole). It is also safe to go North of Cohuilla on Constitution as far as Chicago Club (although these days I don't know why anyone would want to). You can see Chicago Club from the Adelitas entrance.

Maybe one beer / drink, then move on if nothing struck my fancy. I agree, a wingman would have slowed me down.

BTW, while you are there, assuming you have time: hit Las Chevelas for a more Mexican bar experience than you'll get at Adelitas or Hong Kong. Also, hit one of the smaller bars in the alley for some real ambiance. I used to like Karla's Place, but there are a couple of others on the South side of the alley where you'll get the Mexican "working guy" experience.

I never had any problems in any of the smaller Zona bars (keep away from Bar Kinkle, you'll see why). In fact, only problem I had in over 12 years was in Hong Kong. A trio of USA Gangbangers were trying to intimidate me into buying them beers.

That way I arrive in the area daytime and depart daytime. Is it worthwhile to get one of the bigger rooms above Hong Kong or will that just mark me as having deep pockets? (grin).[/QUOTE]If you are thinking of the Hotel Coauhilla (Adelitas), you probably won't be able to get a room for the night on a Friday or Saturday.

Hotel Cascadas has rooms with Jacuzzi tubs. I did that once, and it was worthwhile. However, I had one of my favs for the night so the typical HH / H rental for the bar girls wasn't a factor (you have to fill the tub before use, and it takes awhile. If you fill it before hand it will be cold by the time you get a girl and get back upstairs). I don't think it would work if you are planning on bringing up short term girls from the bars.

Not to say you can't clock out one of the bar girls for the entire night. But, you run the risk of getting a dud if you don't have someone you have a little history with.

Personally, on a first trip, I'd just rent a regular room and keep bringing up different girls until my money or my dick ran out.

The crossing into Tijuana is sorta behind the MCDonalds and Mexican border guards will ask you to fill out a card stating how long youll be in mexico. If you've ever traveled abroad, its standard stuff. Just don't bring anything that might cause issues.

If you use a passport to get into MX, remember they will stamp it. So if you have a SO with potentially prying eyes, there is evidence with date when you went to MX. There is no way to stamp a passport card, so this is a safer option to not give a paper trail of you leaving the country to fuck young girls.
