Rubber rub you the wrong way?
Did you get a positive test result for something else? I assume they prescribed antibiotics regardless, which cleared it up, but was it ever determined for certain what the actual cause was?
In any case the bottom line is that there's always a certain amount of risk involved with this hobby, especially if you enjoy seeing providers who offer at least some uncovered services (as most of us do). Considering that the most common STI's very often have no symptoms at all, it's not always possible to even know if you've caught something, unless you're getting tested every couple of weeks. Ideally we should probably all be doing that, but the reality is that it's a big hassle and most of us probably don't.
Personally I think the best policy in dealing with a potential STI situation is to contact the person who you believe you caught it from first. Not in an accusatory manner, but simply to let her know that there's a potential issue that could affect both her own health and that of her clients. I think most good providers would appreciate it, and take the situation very seriously.
Twice I have had issues after covered full service and been tested twice with no positive tests. (Not the provider you are talking about) Turns out it was the rubber that irritates the sh&! Out of my urethra. Don't matter which type, can not wear one without at least two weeks of misery. So HJ is all I do now which I have no issues with. Just FYI as another possible cause.
