Howdy, coming up from NC and doing my diligence on options and ran across this post. As of Dec 1 2024 NC made Solicitation a felony in an effort to stop human trafficking. According to some interpretations of the new laws your INTENT is justification enough to warrant prosecution, that means even just showing up to a providers location after contacting them from an ad will get you a Felony. In NC that first time felony will get you a minimum and mandatory 4 months in the clink and 10-12 k in fines. As it is a felony there is no prayer for judgement even for first time offenders (in NC). I am not a lawyer, so a lot of this info is distilled down from months of posts from fellow mongers. Needless to say this has thrown the monger (the smart mongers) community into a tizzy. Some of this is fear-jerk and granted our own ignorance of the nature of how these laws will be enforced is hamstringing our action. But at the moment the juice is not worth the squeeze. Everyone is suggesting work arounds but as far as I know nothing good (and how would you really know?) has been laid out. No one supports HT (except those doing it), history has proven to us that morality laws meant to enforce behavior have had little effect, I. E. Prohibition and weed.

In short, I don't see Mass legalizing or decriminalizing prostitution anytime soon. Our former state AG (now governor), spent way too much time fighting for this "human trafficking" law, she's proud of it.
