My answer is "What kind of dances do you do?" They will usually answer "What do you like?" The answer to that is "everything. " This is so you can find out if they do extras, which most do. Then I usually say "I have X budget ($1-$1. 2 max) and a raincoat. " Then as a follow up say "For that I want X,Y, Z" so there it is absolutely clear what the expectation is. Trust me they have heard it all, so no need to be shy or embarrassed. They may come back with a different price, which that is your decision to stay firm or not. Sometimes, they don't like the price, and wander around and then come back 15 minuets later and ask if the offer is still good. Always remember, you hold the cards.
