There are several opinions and a few stories. RTFF and draw your own conclusion.

Second, I am happy to answer your second question. I take the trolley from San Diego, which takes about an hour. It then takes about five minutes to walk across the border to the cab area. It then takes about five minutes cab ride to the clubs. You can walk it, which takes about ten minutes or so. I used to walk it. Now, I'm lazy and take a cab.

Yes, you can be in and out in a couple hours, unless you piss off an ICE agent for not having a passport and he decides to make your day. I use a global entry card and never wait more than two people ahead of me.

Bring a passport, there's no reason not to, especially if you wish to get back sooner than later. The time to cross will vary depending on your exact day of the week and time. There is no steady constant flow of people crossing the border, it works just like traffic in a freeway or people in a mall. With proper documentation and scheduling, you could be down there and back an hour or two easily.

Returning to the US, if you do not have a passport or passport card, they may hassle you, even send you to secondary screening. They will certainly lecture you. Legally, if you are a US citizen they have to let you in. But taking time to verify that you are a citizen can take as long as they want to make it take.

Don't drive because that's a hassle. You have to park someplace etc. Just walk back with your drivers license and only do this if you are a clear cut citizen with no citizenship in other countries. No asylum cases, green cards, etc. You also need to go to the otay border on the way in, not the other 2. On way back any border, I wouldn't buy a passport just to go to Tijuana one or two days a year. Especially if the wife or future gf will ask. What did you do in Tijuana?

As she was getting stamp ready I said I'm just going for 2 hours to drink, she said I had to have a stamp. Filling out the FMM is more common now, but I don't know of anyone who was turned away because they didn't have a passport. I go down all the time with medical patients on their first trip out of the country. Many of them don't have passports and none are ever hassled.

I do have an interesting story on the Global Entry process. The first time I did it was OK, just took a long time. The second time was interesting. When I went in for the interview the agent had me put my fingers on a reader and about five seconds later he asked, "What's this reckless driving deal in 1969?" That is my only arrest and I beat it, anyway, but that was 50 years ago. A permanent record is a permanent record.

Two years ago when I did my concealed carry background check, it took two weeks to get my fingerprint check. Ain't technology great?

This is my opinion, Saturday afternoon will be good. I think the earlier in the afternoon the better. It gets crowded Saturday night, especially in the clubs, which may have a line to get in. But nights are actually full of energy if you are walking around the block.

Don't worry about not speaking Spanish. I would recommend though downloading a translation app and downloading the Spanish offline option. This way if you don't have service in TJ, you can still communicate with the girls. Save the data and download offline translate. Some girls will speak English, but just know that the more English they know, the higher their prices will tend to be. Girls who are fluent in English will be more professional and in higher demand.

Don't try to use pesos unless you are really comfortable with exchange rates. It's easy to screw yourself if you tend to think of 18:1 as close to 20:1 and use that as a shorthand (you think 1600 pesos is $80 but it's really almost $90). Pretty much everything in the zona is pegged to the dollar -- so if you are at the clubs paying dollars is basically the same as pesos. Street girls are the big exception, and you will save a lot of money using pesos with them.

This is a good tip. HK has no WIFI I got stumped trying to work it before.

So if you want to use Google Translate inside HK, you should download 40 MB Spanish app.
