You will rarely see anyone under 300 listed so your budget may determine if it is worth your time. That is really the top rate for me and will disqualify at least half the listings.
It does make things much easier when both parties are members. I usually shoot a preliminary message from the site if it is a first contact and it seems to smooth things over. The provider can review your profile along with the message. The membership itself is really not that expensive and some of the providers offer discounts to members. I have not regretted the decision of joining. Small price for an added layer of safety. If you have any desire to see safe quality traveling providers it is almost a must.
