Mitch.[/QUOTE]The few WYP dates I went on were purely platonic, and the ones I wasn't quite able to arrange also had a very platonic vibe. It could just be my style, or the type of women I chose to "date", but I also never agreed to more than $100, which even then is high for what it is.

In my opinion, WYP is heavily slanted towards the woman. It acts as a "deadbeat filter", since they figure that if someone is willing to pony up cash just to meet them, then they're not dealing with a total loser. Since no more cash is in the offing, she's now in a position to decide whether she's interested in continuing to date. If you're looking at a large discrepancy in age or lifestyle, there's really no incentive for the woman to agree to a second date.

Over the summer my personal life was in sufficient turmoil that the notion of getting out of the house a few times and going on some "practice dates" was worth at least a small amount to me. I never went into a date assuming it would be anything beyond that.

That said, some of the profiles had a UTR vibe, so you may have luck chasing those and then hammering out something longer-term on the date.
