I've seen things go many ways on this issue. And I have made the mistake of getting attached to some of the providers I played with. I'm still recovering from the fallout from that.

Now I have no doubt that we should emphasize with our chosen providers. They're human, we're human. Emotional satisfaction is part of the package we exchange. After all, without that level of attachment, we're better off just using sex toys. As was said on other posts, nobody wants to just fuck a robot.

By the same token, we need to maintain some level of detachment. Because I agree in that these are NOT our girlfriends in the end, they are in the game just as much for themselves as we are. I like the providers I've been with. I like being with them. I find them more honest then so-called honest women. And for all I know they may indeed be having a bad time. I can empathize with that. If they offer me a sweeter deal due to it I will consider it. But am I obligated to drop what I'm doing and trash my budget to help? No.

Love them if you want. Be kind to them if you wish. But don't get too attached is all I'm saying.

If you buy an addict food, or anything else, is money that doesn't have to come out of their own pocket, which they can then spend on drugs. Every cent you spend on an addict is money they don't have to spend themselves and can use on drugs.

The only true way to "support" an addict who is not in recovery is with "tough love. " Your presence, while denying material support, is helpful. Driving them to rehab is helpful. Being a contact they can talk to is helpful.

Buying things for them, unless they are in sincere, committed recovery, is [I]not [/I]helpful.

The [I]flavors [/I]were all good, but the pork ribs were cooked too fast, they were not nearly tender enough to have been smoked slowly like they should be. Almost as if they were parboiled before throwing them on the grill. And the brisket wasn't brisket. What they gave me was much leaner and drier than brisket would have been. Might have been eye round or something like that, it had the same texture. It was also significantly more expensive than many other places.

On the plus side, whatever rub they're using on the ribs is very good, as is their sauce, which is a nice tangy thing with a hint of sweet, almost citrusy, but without that overpowering tomato sugar flavor. Potato salad was good, and the beans were some of the best I've had in a long time. Pretty sure they have the BBQ sauce in them, along with bacon or ham.

She was a recovering addict who died this year from health issues not drugs and she was a great example of humanity. Point is, those that want to be nice, show compassion and understand the risk, go ahead because sometimes the risk is worth it. Those that don't want the risk I get that as well. Never give an addict cash because it just enables them, but I might pay for a bill directly like an electric, gas, phone or rent as long as I pay someone else. That again is a choice. Don't let the hobby change who you are, If you find yourself falling for someone (legit, not just lust) tell them, ask them to go to dinner sometime with you, get their real number, yeah, she probably won't reciprocate, but she might, and maybe you miss out on something that was real because of the how you met and never getting past that. If you met some girl on the street, who was probably an addict, but you don't know, and you would buy them a meal from a burger place or something, you should do the same to someone you met in the hobby, instead of not doing it just cause she sucked your cock before. I'm not telling anyone what myself or FF did was right, nor any of the guys who "enabled" addicts, I'm not saying go fall in love with one, or propose, or take them on a trip out of the country, or to your house, or take them flowers at work, or have them meet your loved ones, or in the case of a potential addict go pay their rent, or light bill, or car insurance, or whatever. But what I am saying is this, don't ever let how you met change how you would treat her if you hadn't met that way. If you are a jackass, or you have a hard shell, or never give anyone any money, or a loner, etc, cool. Remain that in the hobby too, what you are doesn't matter. Just keep being it here. You don't have to be altruistic or romantic, but you are doing a disservice to yourself, and lying to yourself if you would be to someone outside if everything was the same but you met in "normal" (whatever the hell that even means, like anything in life is truly normal) circumstances.
