First of all gentlemen, I would never downgrade a provider's character. I know most of them were, and maybe still are, little sweethearts, and girls next door. I only comment on my experience with them. As a former addict (cocaine) I know what drugs will do to a soul, so the key is learn to read them when they first get in the car. If they are tweakin, tell them your are a street pastor trying to save them, and get them help. If they are nice, and talkative, and once they trust you, at ease, then you can go just about anywhere with them. I personally feel I've gotten good at reading their walks, a actions, but that comes with time.
