Yikes! I know you weren't ever expecting a provider to call you back, but there are many precautions you should take so this never happens again (if you survive it). You should have a cheap monger-only phone, or if not then hide your phone and / or keep it turned off.

Oh man, what a nightmare!

Couple of good suggestions here about the phone and I will add one more if you have a smartphone. Google Voice. It was made for situations like that. Once you have it set up, you can make calls from your phone and it will show up as the gvoice. You can also send and receive texts, but can't send pictures. You can also set it up to "do not disturb" so if anyone calls the line it goes directly to voicemail (diff. Voicemail) and your phone won't ring at all.

Get a hobby phone!
Get an ATT "GoPhone' and hide it. You can do daily rate or by the minute. Mine was only about $9 at Walmart for the phone+some minutes when I got it. No personal info needed to register it either! Its prepaid and to keep it active you have to refill it every month $15-$50 prepaid card at Walgreens even if it has time left to use or it deactivates.

I keep mine at work or in my car trunk and shut off unless I'm calling out.
