There were obviously texts or other communication that weren't included in the posted email thread so it's only a guess as to what all went down. But from that thread, I don't see her being crazy or out of line at all. Call me crazy if you want, but she seems to be a woman who plays on the side but doesn't depend on it for her income stream so she can choose the rules of the game.
