IMO Jenny's politics are entirely correct, but if you want to control the dialogue, talk about your travel plans or some made up idiot at your fake job, or your lawn service that disappoints you. After 5 minutes of that small talk, say "That feels really good" even if it doesn't, and return to the point of the hour.
