Not shut down, just blocked in the US
Looks like the Fed is enforcing the new law.
From the explanation on the oThER site's homepage, they're doing this as a proactive step in order to avoid getting the BP treatment.
Although they've blocked access from the US, the site is still reachable from non-US IP addresses. One free workaround is to download the Opera browser and use the built-in VPN (click on button in the upper left of the browser window, select either Asia or Europe, refresh page).
Not just copies of old ads, that site is attracting new ones
http://onebackpage.com/adult/female-escorts/240-392-0094_i4471021
Figure I'd post about her. Even though BP was down I did a search for that site which had a shadow copy of some older BP posts. Saw Hallie's ad on BP for a while and gave her a shot. Dream was good and she looks nice. All covered. Friendly time. We talked about BP being down and she said it was a big amount of money for her so she needs to think of what else to do / where to post. I'll keep her number in the rolodex.
Too early to tell if it will develop into a full-fledged replacement for BP, but attracting new ads is a promising sign. After choosing category (ex. Escorts, massage, personals, etc.) + region (ex. District of Columbia) + city (ex. Northern Virginia), then you can sort the search results by "Newly Listed" to see the new ads.

Some of the older ads are obviously reposts but the newer ads appear to be the real deal. If you look at tall, blonde, VVV's ad, for example, she lists session prices that weren't in her old BP ads.
As word spreads about alternative sites, and more providers and hobbyists use them, the market will sort out the winners and losers.
Who will rise to the challenge?
I guess this site was just created. But this could be promising!

Hopefully, we get something soon! I'm dying over here!
[blue]That our sister site, it's a year old
A2[/blue]
BP for all its problems, had the advantage of reaching a critical mass of providers that made it a "go to" site for clients. But that wasn't always the case and BP was the big winner after CL shut down their dedicated adult sections.
Now it remains to be seen whether one single site will similarly rise to the challenge in short order, or whether the market will remain fragmented for some time.
I think the winning sites will be those who figure out how to reach critical mass sooner and better than others, while avoiding the pitfalls that brought BP down. It's going to be interesting to watch.
Doesn't seem like a straight up replacement for BP
This site is great as most posters like me would post on the oThER site and Monkey at the same time. The reviews are legit.
I'm not an expert at navigating this site but, unless I'm missing something, it's not an ad site. There are certainly plenty of provider profiles and reviews, but no way to see who is currently available like you could with BP.
Again, if I'm missing something please feel free to correct me. Otherwise, it's a decent review site but not a straight up BP replacement.
The problem with all the potential BP replacements, so far.
While BP, and CL before them, both had sections for adult ads, they also had sections where legit CMTs, CMTs who also offered extras, AMPs, and FBSM providers felt comfortable posting their ads. I haven't seen that with any of the new sites I've looked at.
While some sites, for example onebackpage, appear to have a massage section, the site is so obviously geared to sex ads that I doubt if many, or any, CMT+sensual providers will ever want to post there. Escorts, yes, but not providers like Miss Virginia or most of the Thai masseuses.
With as much $ as there is to be made, I'm surprised someone hasn't simply copied the BP / CL model & format and put up a site like that. They could certainly tweak it to better protect themselves by doing more robust ad screening, keeping servers outside the US, etc. But, since it wasn't the format of the site that got BP in trouble, why not go with a tried-and-true format? BP and CL weren't perfect but they were both simple to navigate, clear in format, and good at showing the most current advertisers while also (BP) allowing sticky ads for which providers paid a premium. And it was those kinds of features, and the ease of use and accessibility, that helped them achieve critical mass.
Why reinvent the wheel? Even a blatant copy should do fine as I doubt either BP or CL would be in a hurry to sue for any kind of infringement. To date, nobody has really risen to the challenge. Many are trying but, IMHO, none are succeeding.
