He wasnt even under arrest probably detained when they told him that and he caved. I'm sure if I was married I'd probably be shitting my pants as well, but not enough to just let all logic go out the window. Key word here is "threaten with arrest. " like man, if you're being threatened with arrest, its a clear indication that you're not under arrest and you probably should be asking if you can leave or speak to an attorney! I too have a friend of a friend that works for the task force, I thought initially they arrested immediately with no evidence but that's actually false, they will arrest immediately if the text thread is incriminating but if the thread is not incriminating they just detain the guys and hope that they talk, because they know the vast majority of the guys who show up are going to be so off guard that they tell why they are there. Then you have guys like myself that walk into every scenario pretending I'm on recording in case it is a sting, were always prepared. They know were too tough to get that's why they focus on the weak minded.

I checked the auditors site doesn't look like they used a land bank owned sting house. Based on my research only addresses in the 300 block of washington ave it could have been were a private citizen owned home and a bunch of apartments. Would be good knowledge for all of us going forward if you know. Thanks brother.

You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions. You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you have the right to stop answering at any time".
Which brings me to a bigger question. Does anyone have any experience with legal council that they can recommend if any of us ever get busted? Would not be a bad idea to have an attorney's contact information in your phone if something ever goes wrong during an encounter.
Anyone got a recommendation? Also what was the cost?

I was given an address for an apartment building and that's where the I later saw that the busts were taking place. I figure I dodged one by intuition and being busy. My lucky day.
In short -- you need a criminal defense attorney in this situation. Technically / legally speaking, you don't "have a lawyer" until you retrain (pay for) one. I highly doubt anyone here would be involved in so much shit that you have a criminal defense lawyer on a paid monthly retainer just in case you get into trouble. You may have a firm on retainer for other issues and they may subcontract with a criminal defense attorney if needed but I don't know much about that.
If this happens to you and you (absolutely should) invoke your 5th amendment rights, you don't need to "have" an attorney or even know one. You can still be provided with a public defender free of charge. Even if it is to just help get you out on bail until you can call someone else. To clarify, if things get to this point, you will be arrested and charged. Its just a matter of A) are you going to be held in custody for a few hours to get things sorted out or B) are you going to give yourself up, still be arrested, but released right then and there. The councilperson went with option B.
LE uses the perceived complexity of the legal system against you. Don't let them, ever.

The task forces use VOIP because they text you off their computers. Also the sting ads won't have any intel if you google the number because there probably were no previous ads for them and if they were they were used a significant amount of time in the past. I know you're a vet just providing more methods for us to dodge them even before we reach out to the ad. Thanks again for the info brother!

They had Bobby on camera getting blown by a 60+ year old Asian. They also had an illegal warrant to place the camera in the room. The traffic stop was just to confirm what they already knew in terms of names and who to arrest when the time came.

They don't have to be "On retainer," but its a good idea if possible for you to find a lawyer that you would want to use, then look around in your life for some situation however small that you would like legal advice for, even if its something like a neighbors tree hanging over your fence, or any potential problem. Just something that you could talk to the guy, or better yet woman, and pay them for their time. This could cost $150.00 for a half hour cup of coffee. Pay them in cash.
I say this because you are now a paying client of an attorney, and, more importantly, they have met you so know who you are and you HAVE PAID them. This is very important if you want to have serious legal representation available because a lawyer knows that if they don't get paid up front then they have to collect, and if they lose a case and their client goes to the joint they won't get paid because the client is in the joint. I've actually wondered if that would be beneficial or not, I know that not all attorneys are ethical. I've always thought it could go either way as far as having a female attorney goes in this type of situation in an extreme way, either A: she's going to think you're a creep or a pig for getting wrapped up in this type of case and sabotage you, or B: she's going to realize Dave Yost and the gestapo are infringing on women's rights by setting these stings up in the first place and fight for you to get a dismissal. As a guy who's had multiple run ins with cops in this hobby I can tell you with 💯% certainty.
If you get to the needing an attorney as more than just an excuse to not talk to the cops point, you've probably already incriminated yourself.
My longest detainment was 72 hours over twenty years ago and I actually sued afterward and won some money from the police department in a settlement from it.
They busted in on a room through an anointing hotel room, where you can walk through to the other room in like a closet door at a motel as I was getting undressed.
Tried to get me to admit I was there for solicitation and I just calmly put my clothes back on and told them I don't speak to police and asked if I could go.
They told me no and handcuffed me and tried all the tricks, we will tow your car, we will arrest you, we will call our job etc etc.
I just sat there handcuffed on a hotel bed, telling them I don't speak with law enforcement and asked how long I would be detained which just pissed them off.
The cops had a camera hidden in the room I later found out in the case I sued them for as it came up in discovery so it captured them ignoring my attempts to remain silent and trying to coerce me into talking.
They then transported me to the local PD and kept me in an interrogation room for a few hours then housed me in the holding cell while I texted and called my job to tell them some personal matters came up and I couldn't come in for up to three days. (Knowing they couldn't hold me longer without charging me) my job was pissed but didn't fire me because I technically called off.
Then let my family know where I was and all that and essentially just kept denying to talk to them about the case while they fed me Burger King and let me stay in the jail.
On the third day, I was woke up and told to gather my shit and come with the cop, I did and they threw me back my coat and my keys to my care and told me I was free to go, so I took a cab back to the motel, grabbed my car and drove home with no charges to my name.
The part that most people fuck up is they are weak and bend to the intimidation of the cops and self incriminate.
Don't be a pussy and shut your mouth, you'll walk away every time.

#1. Don't lie to the police. Before answering anything, ask if you are free to leave. If they say no, then ask if you are under arrest. If you are not under arrest but still not free to leave, go to step 2.
#2. Tell them your name, address, phone number, and any other directory information they might request. Date of birth, place of birth, height, and weight would also fall into that category.

Silly question, how long does LEO run ads? Seems to me they would take them down fairly quick. That's always been one thing I've kind of looked at. Adds that pop up and disappear are either LEO or scammers in my opinion. Just curious if anyone typically wants to TOFTF until the ad has been around for a period of time.
