I don't think it will. The prosecutor is running for judge so he wants to look tough on crime. Also with the threat of marijuana becoming legal, police need a revenue plan so they are attacking escorts under the guise of human trafficking.

The initial news reports were of Traverse City area stings, by the Traverse Narcotics Team (who also does Vice). This led one to believe it was the result of an over zealous Grand Traverse County prosecutor that was trying to put his name in the headlines as he is running for District judge. New reports show that this law enforcement action is much bigger, and that it has expanded to a multi jurisdictional task force of State Police, various Sheriff and local police agencies spread across 19 northern Michigan counties. It is reported that as of yesterday, 35 men have been arrested in 7 of the counties with 73 criminal counts levied against the men, evenly split between solicitation and using a computer to commit a crime. The remaining arrest counts involved marijuana possession, oxycodone possession, and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. Records show that one person was arrested twice in two separate instances during these operations, which more than likely are ongoing. Be careful out there.

Lana, am guessing that agencies involved are trying to suppress demand. It is far easier I think for LEO to go after the men as they only have to prove intent, and with typical communication of texting, they can get us on multiple charges. The penalties, and repercussions are very high. If they can reduce demand, they are hopeful that there will be less supply. I personally think they should devote their energies elsewhere. It also makes websites such as this all the more valuable for communicating with providers and exchanging information to keep all of us safer.

The advertisements instructed mongers to text a phone number to set up an appointment which would take place at a local hotel. The fake ads netted over 60 texts and inquiries to what services would be provided. 10 men who scheduled appointments were arrested and charged with 1 count of engaging in prostitution services and 1 count of using computers to commit a crime. Through plea bargaining, if the men plead guilty to the first misdemeanor charge, the second charge was dropped. The names, age, and city of residence of the arrested men were reported on the front page of the Traverse City Record Eagle. Some say the county prosecutor who has been in office since 2012 and is well known for his softness on crime with plea bargaining arrangements throughout his term has in the past few months trying to make a name for himself of now being tough on crime as he is running for 86th District Court judge. Be careful out there.
