When you talk about exponential growth it will soon run out of people over the age of 70 who are already sick. That exponential growth doesn't continue for the entire population.

Does this mean I'm cruel and heartless thinking "fuck those old people" not at all. 16% of Americans are over the age of 65. I'd kick in to help them out during this. Put them and anybody else in a risk group in lux resorts and feed them peeled grapes and caviar sandwiches with strict controls about who gets in to see them until there is a vaccine if they choose to isolate.

In the meantime the rest of us, that includes me, can get the fuck back to work, allow this bug to get into the herd, and develop immunity. Yes some people under 65 will die but some people under 65 die every year in car wrecks and we don't stop driving. 500.000 people a year, every year die from malaria and 9,000,000 people die from starvation. That's every fucking year. People die, sooner or later it's going to be me. That's the way life works.

I live in a country on lockdown, three fucking weeks of not leaving the house but we have less than 1000 cases. What will have been different after three weeks if nobody gets the virus? If you squash the curve then when you come out it just starts again.

This has to get into the herd, it's the way it works. Arresting it through artificial means doesn't stop it. Slowing it is cool to allow more people to get it, get healed, and have immunity without maxing out the medical system but people have to get it. It's here, it's not leaving.

When you factor in we have conducted a million tests for a population of 330 million, 50 k deaths in a month for a disease you've only tested. 3% of the population for is a pretty significant number. How many fatal cases of pneumonia and respiratory failure have there been in the last 2 months that have had all the indications of being COVID, but the individuals were never tested so the cause of death was never attributed? With 99.7% of the population untested, statistically thousands. We'll agree to disagree, but I'm not out in left field chasing numbers to fit a narrative. Yes, more elderly and people with underlying conditions are dying, check. I don't dispute these populations are at increased risk. Critically ill is another significant metric and 20% under the age of 45 when you have 300 k cases on the up slope is reason for concern IMHO.

Bumped across an interesting article today, explaining mechanism of COVID-19 attacking our bodies.

Seems it ties up ability for RBCs to transport O2, so basically it's suffocating us internally, with "bonus" of turning iron loose from RBCs, which builds to toxic levels.

Seems Malaria bacteria also ties up RBC transport function, possibly explaining why HCG is getting results, by preventing attachment to RBCs in both cases.

For those inclined, no rocks to throw, but a scientist's look, based on evolving info.

If everyone had the same illness trajectory, then the limited tests done so far might have some meaning. But to say you gave the drugs to 35 people (statistical significance N) and didn't to 35 others, and the 35 you gave it to recovered quicker on average means nothing. You have no way of knowing if those 35 that recovered quicker would have recovered quicker without the drugs.

It isn't the total you need to look at, it is the number of deaths per day. What is the leading cause of death in the US right now? Answer, coronavirus. The second highest is heart disease.

Heart disease was the leading cause, it killed about 650 K Americans last year, which is 1,700 per day. The current rate of coronavirus deaths per day is hovering around 2,000, and this is with the USA on lockdown. It would easily be more than double this number without the lockdown.

So you have a catch 22 going on that yes, masks *might* help, but they *more likely* will make stupid people do stupid things. Same with gloves. You will *spread the damn thing faster* if you don't switch out the masks / gloves every time you touch a possibly infected surface, or touch your mask. How many people do you know who would actually do that and reduce transmission?

Most people I talk to don't understand how this damn thing spreads, how contagious it is. Most think "this is to stop us from getting sick", and don't even get "the curve". I've talked to about 20-30 people (either remote at work, or from my porch) and the ignorance on this stuff is astounding.

Why even bother gloves? Personally, I usually just wear one glove, on my dominant hand that I grab things with. My left hand goes glove less, but I put my money, phone, etc within pockets on my left side. I push the cart only with the right hand and use it for display handles, etc. If I have an itch, I use my left hand. I also have a hand sanitizer pack on a carabiner that I'll frequently use, even with my gloves on, especially if I need to use my left hand to grab something. After using a credit card, I'll rub it with some sanitizer before I put it in my pocket.

Can anyone explain why liquor stores are allowed to remain open? Don't bother, it was a rhetorical question congruent with the fact Publix deli employees (and I'm sure McDonald employees too) were preparing sandwiches and other foods until last week for customers without wearing masks (and in extreme cases, no hair nets) so with this being said, why couldn't restaurants reopen with limited seating (anywhere between 25-50%) two or more weeks ago? If Costco, Publix, McDonalds and ABC liquors can be deemed "essential" why not Sloppy Joe's or Charley's Steak House?

As others have stated, the lock-down was done to SLOW the spread, not eliminate the virus. Now that we have a solid grip on it (at least in 90% of Florida as well as other states) it's time to get back to work. This Chinese Communist Virus is going to be with us for at least a year, and with proper precautions, we can inch our way back to normal, but telling people not to leave their homes while others flock to the Courtney Campbell Causeway, park their cars on the side-median (because the parking lots remain closed!) and have picnics, gather in groups and take pics of the sunsets while others walk their dogs, ride their bikes and make out in the mangrove areas without even a single nephew of Uncle LEO even handing out parking tickets just goes to show how full of shit all this "Stay Home and Stay Safe" bullshit order really is at this point!
