I'm dating myself when I post this, but my first experience with a provider left me with a most unwelcome present. It was back in the 1970's and I was a grad student visiting New York and walking around Times Square. It was the middle of the afternoon, and a guy was handing out flyers for some type of adult entertainment and I thought it was some kind of strip club. Made an appointment to see The Famous Brandie. I arrived at her Forest Park motel and called, no response. After 5 minutes, I texted that I was there. Again, no response.
