Often at least one phone call is required so you each know the other is real and of the appropriate sex. Don't discuss dollars for acts over the phone, only face to face after you've assured each other that neither is LEO by nudity or groping.
Cheap phones are fine for talking but I find texting to be a real *****. I used to use a Net10 bottom end phone with 300 minutes and 60 days for $30.
