Never pay a deposit. You are doing good by steering clear of that, you will get burned. Asking questions could get you into trouble if it is the popo, so be careful with that as it can be considered intent. If it is a girl that has been reviewed on the site before you might find your answer by reading through the threads. Some guys offer to meet them for coffee and then discuss things face to face. All depends on your comfort level.
