If you need a separate phone in case you have to lose your phone at an unfortunate event, you can always use your old phone with a prepaid phone card, or just get a cheap smart phone (BLU, or a refurbished older generation phone) on Amazon.

A VPN is an app or service that, as somebody else already said, hides your IP address, and prevents your ISP (verizon, comcast, whoever) from seeing what sites you're visiting. Not all VPNs are created equal, and in fact the NSA is behind some of them. They don't care about people looking to get laid, but they do maintain logs, so you know. I'd be leery of any free VPN, and many of the paid ones. Mullvad is a good one.
DuckDuckGo is a search engine, like Google or Bing (and in fact they license Bing's engine).
Chrome is a browser, like Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge (and in the old days, Internet Explorer and Netscape).
FWIW, I've used several VPNs and haven't been able to get to skipthegames while using any of them. The site recognizes the IP address the VPN presents as coming from a VPN, and blocks the traffic (it isn't something that the VPN itself is blocking).
Skip The Games is accessible with NordVPN, but you have to select the right server. Some of them are indeed blocked from accessing STG but that's an issue with STG, not NordVPN.
I use a server from a European nation that doesn't outlaw the hobby, so maybe that's why it gets through for me.
