Brothers,
Can anybody just give the simple laymans version of STD tests?
I took one, one time at DH clinic...I vowed to myself and to my ex at the time that I would NEVER do that test again. That was some excruciating pain; and it hurt after too for couple hours!
Anywhere else I can go for FREE or CHEAP tests? Like my doctor? If so, they going do the same thing or what? If its the Q-TIP up the penis hole...forget it. If you going tell me, Hinode, thats the only way, then so be it.
What about HIV? Is that blood drawn or PAIN QTIP too?
Thanks in advance,
H

For the STD tests (Gonorrhea/Chlamydia), you actually experienced it - that person would have been a good resource on whether there is any other way besides that Qtip. I doubt it though, my guess is they need to sample from inside the hole to tell if the bacteria are present, and a urine test might not be exclusive enough (they use that for bladder infections). If you're actually having symptoms as Jay Ess reported, you'll probably be given antibiotics even if the test came back negative just in case.
Many a time I coulda had BBFS, but memories of the Qtip prevented me; I believe that's the idea :)
Syphilis is a blood test, again that DH counselor can answer All your questions.
HIV testing is the other clinic at DH and it is a blood test, so if you decide to get tested you will have another chance to inquire. You have good questions so no shame, just ask.
I never asked my doctor; I just assumed it would be processed as an HMSA claim. I get HMSA Reports and Diagnostic Lab Statements even for a strep throat test. What would happen if your SO "accidentally" opened or otherwise saw your mail?
My 2 cents is that DH is your best bet as it is free and anonymous.
Good luck.

For HIV testing, my recommendation is you go to Life Foundation on Ala Moana Blvd. It's free and anonymous. They'll take a swab of your gums and you'll get the results in 20 minutes. They recommend testing at least 3 months after your last "at risk" contact.

Syphilis blood test
Gonorrhea and chlamydia urine test no need for qtip which is really out of date.
Hepatitis B and C blood test
HIV blood test ONLY the swab of the gums has very poor sensitivity. It is basically worthless.
Herpes swab of any suspicious lesions. Do not get blood test as it does not correlate with expression of the disease.
Genital warts. None. It is a clinical diagnosis by and large.
That's all for now. Hate to sound preachy but I always play safe and recommend my fellow mongers to do the same.

Life Foundation uses the Oraquick. Following info from the CDC:
• The CDC lists the six rapid HIV tests that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. These include oral fluid, finger prick, and blood tests. Test results come back in about 20 minutes. Positive results must be confirmed by another test, which may take a few days to a few weeks. Both the OraQuick oral fluid and finger prick tests are more than 99 percent accurate, according to the FDA.

I also have seen people with full blown aids who had a negative swab test weeks earlier and subsequently had a positive blood test. Its just friendly advice from an expert. Just realize that absolutely no hospital uses anything other than a blood test despite the fda comments.
Have fun and be safe.

Brothers Tadhook, Muchograbo, H Mob,
Just wanna say thanks for the SIMPLE explanations.
No brothers, I am not in trouble, and thanks for those who have PMed me.
Hmmmm OK most simple reason first: tried doing the freebie route via CL; girl first asked me to get "checked", then after couple more Don Juan smooth criminal Michael Jackson lines, her panties are down on her ankles, waiting for me to mount.
(Go figure.)
(And no, I didnt mount because of her FUGLY face! Thats another long story but not gonna write it here, for another thread.)
So I thought: ok, ok, what if other women want "test results" as well? DH clinic dont give SHIT due to privacy rights; s'why I asked for SIMPLE, NO PAIN INVOLVED, black & white result tests.
Reason #2: I like the free and anonymous part. If they give back a result (yours to keep) then Im there. Im curious (but 99.9% sure I am clean) about my sexual health even though I BB here and there.
Once again thanks everyone for the informative reports. I just like one quick, easy, painless, results quick, easy, yours to keep kinda deal. Oh and free, or dirt cheap.
Auuuuu-Ryte! Back to your regular scheduled mongering session!
Brother Hinode
PUINSAI!
Howzit Grabo,
I thought blood test was just for HIV, and the q-tip in your penis was for Syphilis, Gonorrhea, and Chlamydia?
Does this mean my q-tip test for Syphilis maybe wrong?
For the genital warts, you are right. Guys be careful because they hurt getting them blasted off.

The most commonly transmitted STD is the HPV (human papillomavirus), which can cause genital warts and cervical cancer in women. Many women have it or have been exposed to it and don't know it. There is a vaccine for women that they are encouraging be given to girls in their early teens that's supposed to prevent the spread of HPV.
Just FYI folks, there is a 'Safe Mongering' thread here:

That is probably a more appropriate place for this topic.

Birthday sex, make up sex. I don't know if it can compare to MRI sex. Haha!

Got a good chuckle from this (the person responding to the post), just thought I'd pass it along on a sunny Saturday morning.

Should I keep my username or change it after I forgot to delete my name on the wordfile attachment of a post? It's not like I'm married or have a significant other that I have to be on the downlow. By the end of the day, I just got some free advertising if anyone googles my name to see a few websites. Memahu isn't politically correct anyway after what happened with Coach MacMakin's apology.
