I just got back after spending weeks there. It's very strict and controlled and nothing like "quarantine" is in the US. Bars and clubs just opened in Bangkok after being closed since the last outbreak. Pattaya reopened a few weeks ago. Pattaya is not the same right now, with most of Walking Street dark. LK Metro is the busiest area and Soi 6 has plenty of women, but most are doing livestreams and not worried about the customers there. It's mostly expat retirees that live there and won't spend money. Bangkok the massage shops are open, besides some soapies. Plenty of women still around in either place, but nothing like it was when it was completely open to tourists. I went to a few BJ bars in Bangkok and plenty of massage places. The bars and clubs are not the same right now in Bangkok, although they reopened a few days before I left. I wouldn't call it a wasteland, since there are still plenty of women around, but the red light districts are nothing like usual right now. Pattaya might get more quiet since Bangkok is open again. It was worth a trip down on the weekends when Bangkok was closed but even less people will make the trip to Pattaya now that Bangkok is open.

Vietnam and Taiwan are still closed completely from my knowledge. I had to reschedule my flight into Bangkok since Taiwan changed their policies and won't even allow transit passengers.

There isn't much to do besides drink and spend time with the ladies, if that is all you want to do. Not much in the area to see or do. Manila is a little less in your face than AC, but never a shortage of things to do and things to see, besides nightlife. If all you want to do is drink beers and spend time with ladies, Angeles City is awesome. Manila is always better in my mind just because there is other stuff to see / do.

Maybe travel will open up in the fall or early next year.

They lose more each day to traffic accidents in the kingdom than has been lost in total to the covid bullshit. I will be back as soon as their bullshit quarantine concept is gone. Probably as my final retirement spot.

Maybe travel will open up in the fall or early next year.[/QUOTE]Plenty of shopping malls (in Makati, the Mall of Asia, Greenhills, etc), Binondo (one of the oldest Chinatowns) to eat and walk around, BGC (the Fort) is a nice area to walk around and get dinner. Lots of historical sites too, such as Intramuros. You can even take a day trip over to Tagaytay and see the Taal volcano. The thing about Angeles City is that Walking Street area is short and much smaller than Pattaya, with less around the area. There is one big mall there (the SM mall near walking street) to walk around during the day but really not much in that area at all. If all you want to do is sleep in, wake up, drink beer, then find a girl at night, Angeles City works fine. Pattaya has much better selection for activities, malls, restaurants, etc. - not even counting the nightlife. Angeles City is limited, but it's all concentrated in one area so you don't need to walk or deal with much traffic. Inside Manila, you would have to bounce around to Makati / P. Burgos / other nightlife areas. But Manila has plenty of girls who will just come to your room too.
