During my travels on the local S Broadway stroll this past week of course I ran into funny looking skinny VAL 🙄. Which always seem to be everyone's No 1 pick up. A few weeks ago I toured the MLK stroll and there was quite a few out. The MLK stroll is a black stroll so there was a bunch black hookers over on Wells from Arlington to Hodimont. There was three white hookers on Wells near the Hodimont side. Sleepy Samantha was out on Hodimont near the liqour store on Page. She is really cool but man she will nod off and fall asleep 😴 quick as lightning. As soon as she got in the car we started talking and about 2 minutes in the conversation she started falling asleep. While on another tour of the same ol infamous S BWay Blade a few days ago I ran into little homeless Kelly with all her luggage and oversized clothes 😳. (Kelly is the name she gave me). If you have enough space in your back seat put all her luggage there. The best option for her is to take her to a hotel. Once you are there tell her to get in the shower and clean up. I haven't had one outright die on me, but I've seen enough of it to want to try to think that all the way through before one does. FWIW, I see the ones strung out on opiates mostly hanging out more near the fake "store" and "motel" 4 miles to the east of there, on Grand from the "pest control" corner on Market St to St Louis Ave, more so than towards the farther west part of MLK. What I generally see concentrated in the area around Hodiamont between MLK & Page are mostly crackheads. Whether that's true or not, of course being on crack instead just means they can tend to be the opposite kind of problem. Instead of nodding-off, they'll sometimes start bouncing & twitching & tweaking and flailing about like there's a fizzy soda bottle going off inside their noggin, or sometimes have an attention span that just can't focus on the job they need to do. But at least the crack tweakers aren't suddenly dropping dead left & right so much, like the fentanyl zombies do a lot. And hey, some of us actually kinda like that tight & hard anorexic little toothpick look some of the tweakers get. Or so I've heard, just sayin' for a friend.
Pardon me for saying what regulars with a lot of experience in that area already know very well, but for others, meaning any visitors or others reading this who are not familiar with these places like those blocks on and around Hodiamont, they are definitely only for those with a lot of serious industrial strength street smarts. Be honest with yourself, and if you're not quite totally sure about how to do your business & get by in places that have steel security bars on the windows of any building that's not been abandoned to squatters & where I know some moms who make their kids sleep in the bathtub trying to protect them from stray bullets, then this probably isn't exactly where you want to be looking for a good time with a fistfull of dollars. I have people I know there, and in general I'm okay dealing with places like that, but I think most people probably wouldn't be, and shouldn't. And everybody on the street will know it immediately. Within the last month I know of three murders on the street in that area near MLK & Hodiamont, and there are probably a bunch of others I don't happen to know anything about. Unless it is something especially photogenic like a car becoming a big fireball that's entertaining to look at, somebody getting killed on the street in that neighborhood usually gets no more than one or two short sentences in the media, ho-hum and today is Tuesday, with little or no follow-up about it after the dead guy or gal has been hauled away. And all the fentanyl junkies dropping dead usually don't even get their name mentioned.
Just feel like it's a good idea to mention that once in a while, for those who are not already familiar with the lay of the land & whatnot.
