all this talk about getting robbed
reminds me of my 3rd or 4th pickup -- looong time ago. An older and very elegant black woman ('BSW' doesn't do her justice) I picked up in front of the Cedar St graveyard at Milton/Dorchester Lower Mills.
She was very nice and sensual and worked it real slow. When she was done (she didn't ask for payment until she was done) she said something the affect of "its bad luck to hand someone money" and asked me to take the $20, kiss it and put it on the dash. (totally serious -- she was a trip)
So I reached for my wallet and it wasn't there. So I plead with her and offer that she can keep the cash, just give me my wallet back. She says "don't do this to me" and then eventually gets out of the car and leaves.
I didn't chase her, I just went home stunned and trying to think how I would fake the robbery and/or account for the fact lost something otherwise always in my pocket. I got home, opened the car door and you guessed it, my wallet fell out onto the road, of course complete intact.
I felt so relieved I wanted to chase her down and pay her, but I never saw her again nor any SWs in that same spot (note the last point -- I am not suggesting Cedar St Graveyard is a place to monger; but as dinosaurs once walked the earth, you used to find SWs in every Boston neighborhood).
