I don't get up that early to enjoy a cold one so I can't say who opens / barkeeps then. Day bartenders start at noon, Melissa and / or Sylvia. Night bartenders are Peter and Joe. I've seen some of the previous ajumma kbgs lurking about as well. I was told it's pretty busy for the UH games but empties out soon after the game is over. Not been there for Saturday or Sunday morning football yet. Full kitchen, many large screen TVs, karaoke, game machines available. The "dark side" section once known for happy endings and the like has been cleaned up and renovated (sanitized? LOL). Not sure but at one time they were offering 2 beers for $5 during happy hour. Like many others have said there is quite a difference from before (brighter, cleaner, more room for sitting in table area). What I found strange was the segregation of the hostesses. All the new ones that came over occupy the bar area and have the customers. The old timers (Wendy, Sophia, Jessica, and one more) occupy the area to the left as you enter. They had no customers. Michelle, Wendy, bartendresses Julie and Coco moved to Oasis.
Does anything go on at the bars or are you just buying them drinks? I'm an AMP enjoyer but thought of checking one of these out.

Unless you're a known big spender, the most you'll get is a tease and no action. KBG in general are heartless snakes, trying to outclass their fellow KBG with Gucci bags, BMW and other material things. Better you put your foot down and just drink at the bar and sing karaoke. Got AMP's for action, I had one KBG that I know come by at the bar while singing a couple, then all of a sudden she had this tray filled with Crown shots, maybe 8-10 then tell me to pay the bartender. I shook my head and told her to pay it herself and walked out of Starlight.

But they are paranoid during the week day evenings when the liquior commission is on the prowl for violations. If KBG likes you action is possible, but will cost more than AMP and most likely no shower. Better to hit them early or you'll get sloppy seconds. Sundays are best time or early around 5 pm. Depends as KBG are not as open as the Vietnamese on selling their pussy.

Many will close early if it's slow and / or the KBGs want to go home. There are a few that one can count on to stay open until 2:00 am bar time like Emerald City but I have seen them close early on slow nights. Stay Safe.

I went to some of the Kalihi bars this past Monday night. Went to Siam Paradise, Thai bar but my friend knows the bartender (forgot her name but think her nickname was Crazy). Checked out Vegas, empty except much older girls and not worth checking out, sitting at one table. My friend knew one local bartender, Kanani and mama Sandra (sp) was friendly. Went across to Aqua, again nothing too see there. Passed by Green Tee, super slow, one girl looked like she was taking a nap, nothing to see. Went into the one with Viet girls (Lucky Honu?), had one guy with a bar girl eating Taco Bell dinner. Last Kalihi stop was Waterfall, never seen the old setup but it's nice inside, again nothing really too see in here.
Ended the night at Business, met bartender Chanel (back bar) and a Japanese hostess (started with an A, forget her name) both were probably the best looking of the night. Seen Chanel before but never really talked to her before, nice, older than me. The Japanese girl said she's been there for awhile but I've never seen her there before, she looked about late 30's to mid early 40's looking, friendly, and later some guy with money took her and bought a bottle of champagne.

You are correct that VBs are more guaranteed play. Those Viet ladies are very much "transactional" and don't seem to care what the other girls think. This may also be the situation in the Thai bars. In most of the KBs there is competition for status among the ladies and those that openly put out are frowned upon. Of course every lady has a price point but the higher tier KBGs are much more selective. Your looks, dress, job status, personality etc will determine how far you get. Happy hunting and Stay Safe.
