How many times have you spent $5 in gas to find someone completely unlike the ad opening the door, or to ghost you after an hours wasted time? If I can do a 5 minute video call for 5-10 $ I can see what they look like, what the room might look like (if they are undisciplined then the situation will usually show) and set a level of comfort between us. I have avoided multiple bad situations or and made multiple encounters better by spending $5. It comes down to time vs $ quite often.
