Women who work in Europe in the red light districts are professionals. They are college age (some older) shower fresh girls who wear makeup, lingerie and high heels all for 50 Euro for 15 minutes to start. They provide condoms and lube as well. It's because people today are getting married much later in life (or not at all) which gives rise to more frequent sexual partners. Also, with young people waking away from organized religion (due to widespread scandals) and the rise of apps like Tinder stds can spread rapidly among common folk who often don't get tested and seem to only have sex in the state of drunkenness. We are living in the era of the hookup culture.

I doubt that K ave is ground zero because that type of subculture has always been here and always will be as it is the oldest profession. Everyone thinks sex workers spread diseases simply due to the sheer number of partners they have but I read some study published in the 80's or 90's about how all these sex workers were followed and tested trying to confirm that belief but the results came back that sex workers did not spread diseases to the degree they thought that they did.

I mean you have just as good of a chance of picking something up from a cute girl at a bar as you do from a girl from K ave. Hell, there are many girls especially in the city who don't escort but rip and run around with different men just because they can and can go toe to toe with your favorite K ave girl. The people have lived with that subculture / element for so long it's unofficially apart of the culture. Take the Netherlands for example, from my understanding the red light district all came about in that region due to all the men who traveled to that area by boat to trade goods and services. What was cool to me was the outside urinals they had for all us bros. No need to duck down a dark ally or bother a shop merchant. There is a open shoulder height concrete maze structure you walk into and do your thing. It was clean and sanitary.

That said I have heard of some horror stories and books have been written to warn young men.
