But if I don't check the "remember me" option, it treats me similar to what you described. Once I do that, my status persists all day until I close the window. So even though this sounds obvious and perhaps you already do it, try it in case you haven't been doing that.
If you have, then I have nothing else to offer other than the usual try clearing cache, another browser, etc.

I bought a pay-as-you-go phone a few years ago that I use as my fun phone. Depending on your situation, having a second phone around might raise some questions, but it might be worth the investment.

Was talking to someone on SA, all seemed normal. Switched to my burner and exchanged pic. Had a bit more banter by text, just light bs. Nothing revealing. Within 30 minutes was being blackmailed on my real number to send $2 k or he / she ('it') would start calling / texting my relatives. In one pic it had my whole family tree with their phone numbers. It had put together several screens shots of my personal info, texts were very convincing and high pressure It drafted texts that were ready to be sent to family members and sent me screenshots. Anyways, I didn't pay and blocked it. It tried from several other numbers and I blocked them too. It was very convincing and persistent for about an hour. The whole experience is stressful.
Bottom line, never pay a blackmailer a dime. If you do, they'll want more and won't stop. Ignore, block, and pray. From my research and experience, they don't actually carry out their threats. They just want a quick buck and if it doesn't work, they move on. Completely ignore them from their first outreach. If you respond they'll know you're worried. Just hold your ground and ignore them. That's my advice.
