I cruised Sepulveda and Sherman Way on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights from about 10 to midnight and there was a whole lot of nothing. Tuesday around 3 AM a few girls came out. I saw a gorgeous blonde on SB north of Nordhoff in Daisy Duke shorts, but she was smoking something that created a cloud, like Pig Pen from the Peanuts comics. She was about 22. There is always a lot of complaints from the local residents about the SW issue. And, believe me, LE takes those complaints seriously. Ask anyone who grew up in a little town and they will tell you stories of walking their dogs or their kids walking to the bus stop and finding used condoms, beer cans, marijuana baggies, empty rolling paper packs, cigarette butts, puddles of vomit and all kinds of other things they don't want in their neighborhoods. This isn't a hooker problem, it's a douchebag problem where people don't consider others. Even without hookers people dump all kinds of stuff in the street and just don't care. On your next drive, count how many empty coffee cups you see up and down every street, but nobody's arresting anyone at Starbuck's.

I agree that the best approach is a hooker ninjitsu mentality where you get in and out and leave no evidence that you were ever there. I mostly take my business to industrial areas and I never leave trash behind because I don't want anyone to ever know I was there. This keeps anyone from reviewing any camera footage they might have, and it leaves the door open for me to use that spot again.

The hooker thing is about money. This is why they do john stings on Lankershim twice a year. Johns have money and cars and hookers have nothing, so they target the johns. No politician is going to ever legalize it because it's an easy sell to stupid voters who think you are protecting them from the dangerous sex fiends. Meanwhile the homeless are roaming the streets in record numbers dumping trash everywhere and gangbangers are still shooting people.

It's the same reason why your children must be in a car safety seat when travelling in your Mercedes with 9 airbags but on a 30-year-old schoolbus they can bounce all over the place and run up and down the aisles. It's because the cops can give the Mercedes mom a ticket but they can't ticket the bus driver who works for the same government they do. It's about money.
