I have to agree with Chivalrous on this
I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, all the other usual disclaimers.
Isn't that kind of information simply hearsay? I mean, in defense all you'd have to say is "I've never met this person, she pulled my name out of the air. How hard is it to come up with 'John Smith'? "
I can only think of one provider who has ever known my first and last name. Or anyone who's used my first and last name often enough that they'd remember it.
Of course, they might could turn over my cell phone number. Not sure how much more damaging that is. Could you argue wrong number? Depends on how often your number shows up on their phone I guess. But is it illegal to carry on a conversation with a provider? I would imagine not, but then again, I am not a lawyer.
First of all, I'm not a lawyer either. I would think that the worst thing they would be able to do is question you? What proof would a phone number or name be anyway? I would think that they would need to catch you in the act to make an arrest. I'm sure everyone pays cash, right? No way to trace that, unlike credit cards. I wouldn't worry to much about that happening. What a girl tells LE is not enough to do anything to you. The only concern I would have in that situation would be the girl working with LE and setting you (us) up? I'm sure that type of thing has happened before. That's why it's important to be careful who you see. I like to stay with providers that I can trust. It's not against the law to be friends with a provider, no grounds to harm you there? Even if your number is on her phone 100 times (so what)?
If I said you robbed a bank, that doesn't mean you would be arrested for robbing a bank? There has to be more evidence than that, right?
When providers get busted
When providers get busted, LE will try to make the provider work for them, trying to catch as many of us as they can. They will do this by advertising and getting us in the act of paying them. If a provider you have seen before gets busted, and you happen to make an appt with her, you run the risk of being busted too.- look for anything out of the ordinary. If you have seen the provider before, then you probably know her routine, if she deviates from that or acts suspicious-- get out.
I'm not a lawyer either, but I don't think a provider simply having your phone number, or even your name is enough to get you into trouble. I am friends with some providers, some that I haven't been on a date with in over 2 years, yet we talk 2 or 3 times a week. So, I don't see how simply having a phone number can prove anything.
Big things that will draw attention to LE are drugs, and lots of money. If you avoid providers who use drugs, you chances or getting busted go way down IMHO. Try not pay with a credit card (AMPs are usually ok though), and don't wire large amounts of money to a service. Most of the people on this board aren't that stupid, but that is how the Governor of New York got caught, transferring ridiculous amounts to a service.
Have fun and play safe.
