By far Tarks has the best oysters and other seafood, but I wouldn't consider it a dive bar--like the other places mentioned.
Mostly locals and great food, but they close very early 10pm and if anything you may find a couple looking for a third in the winter time when the candians frequent there. Also you can sit by the window and watch the sw'ers go by- which can be nice also.
Seafood is out of season right now, but come November that place is great...good wings too.

There is also a good place to meet locals-- alot of redneck (no offense) types is on ST. RD. 84 - Joey's. It is right next to Old Heidleberg the german restuarant in the strip plaza that used to have the peep show back in the day. By the way at happy hour at Old H. it is awesome as well- big beers and free food.
Also the counter at Lester's Dinner overnight is a great place to meet local women.
And at the next corner across from the Walgreens and next to the Gas Station is Freddy's -- I think that is the name. It used to be on the corner of US1 but moved 6 years ago. Another monger on the Ft. L section picked up a nonpro from that bar at 1am. It is a sports dive bar that serves food very late.
Also on Las Olas there is a 24 hour dinner called Flashback on the corner of 15th. The most interesting people are at the counter between 2-4am. I have gotten all types of action through the years and it doesn't attract a las olas or a gay crowd... Just very strange and alittle drunk and drugged out

There is one more bar on Oakland Park Blvd just to the east of Andrews that used to have action around it-- I think it has turned to a mostly black crowd these days and may not be for everyone. It is right before the Lace to Lust store if that helps.
I have also heard that a few of the bars on the broadwalk on the south end of hollywood beach are good for late night action.
Le Tub has mostly couples at the bar, even late at night... It is a ***** to park and really not worth it. I am not into there burgers either as I believe they are overrated and not worth the 2 hour wait to get in.
