Korean Bar Reports

Where are the golfers? Guess they are all dead too along with the big spenders. Back in the old days, Camelot, Ashley and Chill were loaded with golfers and pau hana drinkers around 5. Girls would come in early to take care of them.

Not anymore. Let's say time has changed and drinkers moving on.

For out in town, there was also girls specifically scheduled for the afternoon. Even back in the day when watching Monday night fb at the bars was big, only a few girls would come in early during the game. Always thought that was kind of dumb because majority of the guys attention was on the game and food. I mean I know kalihi is more known for the pau hana parties. But the reality is bars were always catered to the evening crowd, especially out in town. Hence why happy hours are typically in the day / late afternoon, to attract more people to come at that time.

The new princesses no come work till 8 in town. No wonder the early birds drinkers are disappearing. They hop on to Kalihi instead.

Anyway they are losing the golfers too cause after a hot day playing 18 holes. The golfer group like to have a few beers and some pupus. There is no girls there to serve them cause town princesses come work late.

I notice Green tea and lilac have flyers for lot of golf functions. In fact I think they have teams. I know a few of Mimi's girls golf, but I don't know if there's enough to consist of a team. After all, most of them relatively speaking are on the younger side. Ashley, last I saw just don't have enough girls period. Seems Lotus and Splash though might be reloading with older woman, so perhaps their future will cater to the golf crowd. Not trying say golf is a older person thing, but let's be real here those type of functions do attract the older crowd more. Camelot, that place got all kinds of issues now. Ever since Mimi left, that place is catering more to Korean nationals. I don't know how she going continue to make ends meet with that mentality. Especially when the customers are notorious for rolling over tabs.

In the past, you rarely see them out front, but now they are taking over sitting at the bar. I've heard too from a few sources lot of girls are avoiding working there because that's just how mama wants to operate. Up until a few months ago, she had Mimi covering her mistakes. We'll see how long more she can survive now that she is solely doing things her way. I hope all the delinquent tabs that go on there get paid off eventually.

The above key words and phrases (of observations) are setting the KB Landslide: 'Noticeable, lack, notorious, avoiding, survive, covering her mistakes, delinquent tabs, paid...eventually, rude, taking over, arguments, etc. " Positive and humorous comments need to be harvested from going KB, not crap. Lots of work to do in order to enhance the KBs from their current, negative images. Sad case. Anyway, will be doing a day shift observation and report of New Business after its approximately one month of being in operation (from what I've heard so far, it ain't that good) soon. Somebody else go same time so that can get one unbiased, multiple report, if can. Sad case, so take care and stay thirsty.

Next to me was a Korean guy maybe 30 yrs old talking to the Korean bartender. Heard her say to this guy, "I won't push drinks if you come meet my friends this coming weekend". So yeah, maybe the KB mamas think its cool to run a business with the same racial Koreans, who do not spend money like non-Koreans and if they do allow non-Koreans, they should stop the KBG from pushing ridiculus $40 drinks. I tell the KBG once she mentions it, to pay it yourself and walk out never to go there again. Stupid business will fail real quick when mama san looks at her balance sheet.

Have been sober and stayed away from KBs for over a month, my wallet is as heavy as ever been. Took a ride in town, first stop Spotlite, slow, same girls, nothing excited to report. 904, Ruby still there, she gained a few pound, heard she has a BF now, she was kind of busy. Starlite parking lot looks emptied, is that place still open? Vegas is as slow as ever been, their popular bartender Hana said bye bye to KB and gotten married. Guess how long that will last? She loves to drink and marry life and drinking don't mix. Still trying to get the Fox to marry me, but she said she likes to enjoy life before she settled down, that's fine with me as long as I get my bazooka fired once in a while.

Went to town after. Only bar with little action is NB. But they still got a long way to catch up to once popular EG. Ashley only old farts there. Grandma near 60's trying to be 40's trying to make a living, sad case! Korean nationals taking over Camelot, sometimes I wish I can understand Korean so I know if they are talking stink about me.

Fourth of July is around the corner. Let's see if it will boost up the kbs business a little, they sure needs help!

This will be my last weekend report for now since my schedule will be changing. Didn't have much time so I just headed straight to NB. It's nice to see Makaloa street parking more crowded now since NB opened. Not like the old days when we had to keep circling till a stall opened up but at least better than the past few months where area seemed like ghost town. Anyway, NB fairly steady, not as busy like the past couple weeks but lot of off booths and barstools occupied. I've noticed a few different girls. If they can hold steady like this for weekends, then I'd say it's a success. I don't mean to sound biased on this place or Mimi mama but reality is this place really the only one that resembles the good ole days. Just sucks can't hop from one place to another and have equal or better feelings. Competition is going to be key and as of now it's pretty much just NB vs everyone else. I would hope Ellie mama has learned a few things since she now somewhat a vet and try be ambitious to get people back to her place. Perhaps anyone who still keeps in contact with Patty and Maya mama, convince them to make one more run in the bar scene. Anyway, NB is pretty much what I expected on the weekends. Now I'll get to see how the weekdays are. I'm expecting slow, question is how slow. Although because of Independence Day, I expect Wednesday will be on the busier side. Probably not Thursday since majority will be busy with other events.

That way she rips off both the customer, by having a free pass $20 for no drink and the bar losing out on their $5. I don't trust anyone of those KBG.

Anybody got info on where the easy play is on the west side? I mostly Go Blossoms and Hot Ash, got regulars I like share, but lookin for new ones.

Typically the $40 drinks will be for certain hard liquors or wines, as those cost close to $10 range and up for us. But for the most part the deal is the bar just collects the cost of the drink and the girl keeps the rest. The only thing the bar will partake in is handing out fake drinks at the girls request. Of course there's probably some places that have different business practices but that is the general procedure. Mama should be looking out for us and pushing girls not to do such things. But all in all you have the power to allow the girl to rip you off or not. Always going have some moron who got no balls to decline and allow themselves to get ripped off. This is a big reason we are in this mess, because few years ago youngsters decided to partake in this hobby and would only think with their other head (if they even thought at all). Kbgs are not bad people, they are there trying to make a living, whatever it takes, sometimes they BS a little, bottom line we are the ones keep going back to them, myself included.

1. I have not had a truly good and memorable experience with a KBG; they will use every tactic in the book to survive; they use me, I use them; been going KBs since 1970 and still planning to continue going to classes.
2. This has nothing to do with who the bad person is in this particular situation; of course both sides (99%, for the sake of argument) are using tactics to gain any advantage to "come out ahead," in preservation of the Id.

For me, the thrill is gone for the moment but not yet buried. Take it easy and see you at NewB before the end of the week.

I guess I've been lucky or thinking with the big head and not the small one. You're right though the thrill is gone.

Cause mama cut is $15 for a $40 drink. Greater than the two $20 drinks that they only get $10 cut.

No matter what, no one deserve $40 except for princess Fox. I would buy her two $40 drink, that is all.

If they drink a regular bottle of beer, then $20 would be appropriate. At $40 per drink, the girls would have to be very good looking or really very nice. Unfortunately, I don't see too many girls in that category these days.

The KB is in charge of and has to control the dispensing of nekos to the KBGs or risk the losses; cat and mouse game at all levels. Anyone who thinks it's about customer service is losing or has lost it.

There is no such thing as $10 drink anymore.

Not too many special princesses out there these days. Some they have the looks but with shitty attitude. The other ones with grandma looks but with decent attitude.

You make the call. Hard to find a gem at KBs. Princess Fox might be the only one I can see right now. Her entertainting spirit would rock your world anytime and anyday. Her looks is cute and she is a mature woman in her prime.

If you have a kbg that gives you the buy my sister a drink please because she don't have any customers bullshit then offer to buy them both a $10 dollar drink. The bond of sisterhood will immediately be broken as the kbg who asked that bullshit won't want to make less money and will stop that bullshit quick. If she gets out of line and pops off with something about being cheap be polite and say sorry you feel that way and stop buying or switch to another girl which sends the message even better. Learn to train your girls as they are certainly trying to train us.

We used to try and do Flash Mob maybe 5-6 years ago for fun; we picked one slow KB to barrage (all arrive at one certain time) and about one dozen guys when show up, had only one drink, and left. We did this at Kalihi, too. Their faces when show confusion and panic when the mob when arrive; and then more confusion when the mob when leave.

Get plenny 'crazy guys' out there, especially during dayshift, but that makes the KB World go 'round. Main thing no make trouble.

July 4th, got there at NB early evening, saw grandma Leeann and another Ashley girl was there. Place was slow and dead, no sense hang around and moved on. Ashley closed, Camelot parking lot was full, probably the Korean nationals filled up that place, did not go in there, cause street parking were also taken by fireworks watchers.

New Business should be renamed "New Evergreen. " It is what is expected of having "the same ole thing. " Bartenders Sunshine and Angela do not make for hospitality especially if they eating lunch as soon as the place opens; service sucks when both are eating their meal (why they got to eat together instead of taking turns (while leaving the bar unattended) is typical of menopausal KBGs). After they pau eating, then they get into place and try work with unenthusiastic attitudes (got to get the motor running).

Awhile after lunch, they start working and service is OK; pupus are offered, service for drinks is evident. The same LVBs from Evergreen were there with a couple of other brothers who took the time to come and see. Although my stay was brief, it is the same as old Evergreen and nothing new, better, or promising are going to happen soon. The only interesting thing that customers were commenting about was (1) filling the backdrop space between the two flat screens at the bar counter; (2) how sad it is when KBGs become menopausal and how quickly they go downhill; moreso than males.

Anyway, in all fairness to the KB and KBGs, New Business Evergreen will probably survive only because it will soon be the only game in town (Hot Spot, Ginza, Twilight, Lotus soon to be pau in September / October). Don't go when the KBGs are eating lunch because it's their time, not yours.
