Just a few years ago remember how hard it was to get parking around the town KBs or even get a seat inside Evergreen late on a weekend? How often do you see a SRO KB nowadays with far fewer options? Lots of customers are having fun and sometimes even relocating to places like the Philippines or Thailand. After you see how those ladies make a living, you will truly understand why the word "Princess" is spot on.

As WFL previously commented, the new generation of KB owners no run the business with one iron fist like before; they don't know how to run one KB business in all aspects except for pull the money tree out by the roots; no sustainability in the business, customers, KBGs, whatevers; just grab-and-go and let the ship sink. No can talk sense to one rock anyway.

About 8 years or so ago I talked to a former long time bg / bartender, who amazingly is living a happy honest life now. I asked her if she ever desired to work again. She said a little, she wouldn't mind part time bartending again because she sometimes misses the atmosphere and the customers. But the business and girls just changed for the worst too much. Might I remind this was 8 years ago too, so things are much worse now. I've also somewhat recently talked to a few current girls about the business. Quite a few of them have heard about the legendary Patty mama. Would be very interesting to see how Patty would handle things today. Unfortunately I think she is retired for good this time.

1. Underestimated how hard they would have to work. Most get no days off and they have to cover kitchen mama and bartenders on sick calls etc.

2. They know have the pressure of paying all the bills!

3. Constant girl drama! Running the place with an iron fist nowadays makes you lose girls to a competitor. Newer popular girls have no loyalty except to their own wallet. They don't want to be told anything and throw a hissy fit and threaten to quit if they don't get their way. K (the fox) is an example of one who brings money in but is a nightmare to try and manage as a Mama. She's hopping bars for a reason and it's usually because a mama said enough of this bullshit LOL.

They think it's prestigious but haven't really thought it through clearly.

There is one mama I would give her credit of trying hard. But the result is still the same, not much happening. TC mama went throght 3 names, Butterfly, Summit and Chill, from hossess bar to local bar and sports bar, and I don't know what it is now. Anyway it looks like she is going to stand her ground to finish her career as mama where she is at now.

I believe Mimi was the one who renovated the place to a bigger size and made it butterfly because she didn't want to stay at the old centerfolds spot. Can't remember though as that was so long ago. But I know the mama after her who kept the name for some time, was a real nightmare from what I heard. I assuming when it changed to summit that was another ownership change.

Or like a athlete who thinks he ready to be the future of the team but then realized it's going to take way more than just his talent to lead the franchise to prominence (sorry lebron lovers LOL). Joking aside, that's just how the generations are becoming. Nobody knows how to think anymore.

There are some AMP girls that became mamas, then went back to worker status. Lots of bills to pay, and need to bring in customers.

Went to Lilac with some friends recently and a Chinese BG sits next to me. Out of courtesy bought her a $20 drink which she brings the small can of beer. After no more than 15 minutes she asks for another $20 drink which I told her last one and she brings a full bottle of beer. After a minute she goes off to another table and returns about an hour later and inquires where is her beer. WTF, I have no idea what happened to your drink and I don't care and do not want you to sit by me. So she leaves. CHEEHOO good riddance. Saw these girls at Starlite before and they moved to Lilac. The taller one is married and has a child.

Last time I will buy them drinks, my rule is never ask for drinks. They wonder why is KB So slow. Because of this shit ass service and greedy attitude.

I only used to go there to meet up with friends before going somewhere else as it was a safe no drinkie zone for me. I can't recall ever meeting anyone there I wanted to drink with. The chronics and gambling addicts make it a no fly zone now.

Neko for 15 minutes of their time is a norm these days.

And you wonder why bars are so slow. One BG told me some mama instruct the girls to push it every 15 minutes. Anyway the Chinese girl from Starlite you referring to was it Lily? She is known of a pusher.

All the politicos had to give it up for moralistic appearances, the Japanese spenders have gone elsewhere, the big drinker / spenders from construction either dui'd or are retired, and the current crop of girls expect thousands to drop in their lap due to the stories of the 70's ,80's, 90's when bars were at their peak. All the girls who worked for Patty didn't realize how good they had it until they went elsewhere after she retired. Patty confessed that the girl's attitudes were equally the cause of her retiring as well as the money drying up. I spend many evenings at her home and she had enough of it. She is currently looking for real estate or another type of business to start up and stay busy. She is an unbelievable money machine, always looking for work. Can't beat the work ethic of our generation as compared to Millenials. Who are super lazy, expecting TV style miracles of success to just fall in their laps. LOL, speaking of the devil, Patty's texting me now, ciao gang.

In fact, there aren't any powerhouse mamas anymore. Mimi had her time, but blew it by gambling. Now, she needs "partners" to make a go of a bar as she has no money, and many don't trust her.

I know she not the smartest mama, but she does have very ambitious visions. Little too ambitious you ask me, that's why both butterfly locations didn't work out. But at this point as far as current mamas go, those visions are probably the only thing that can give the business some direction. I know many was hoping she would be able to lockdown a deal somewhere for a 4 o'clock spot. She probably the only crazy one too who would be willing to run a 4 o'clock bar in a somewhat stable fashion.

Know them from Kapiolani Golden Bee (as KBGs, old Brass Door) and first KB as owners, Shangri-La, in Kapahulu (the old Ogi's Lounge); Ogi was the first KB owner to start the champagne crap in the KBs. A&P eventually parlayed their success to other venues but the criminal justice system (Ann spent time in jail for tax evasion) and changing times, as stated by L1 below, took its toll. It will be interesting to watch what happens next with the KB businesses.

BG said mama was engaged again to one other guy, and on top of that she had another local portagee BF waiting outside to pick her up. BG pointed that one out wen we went to smoke outside. Didn't think anything of it that night. Too much drama so I left. Until, one of the waiters went sit down talk story one different night. He wen confirm everything the BG said. Plus, he wen point out one stupid local guy and his friend dropping $$ and said mama don't leave that table. Maybe that guy is lucky #5. For all you LVB's that chase mama, she will suck your wallet dry, not you. She too much of one belligerent drunk to do that. Sorry Ashley, you getting older, and your business going downhill. You better find one younger rich guy or take care your business before everything gone. Service starting to suck. IMO, this place not going to last that long. Ashley was looking good with makeup and was popular so no doubt she get some LVBs hanging in the rafters while she preying on whatever is floating around. She also get some K guys hovering around her and is a pretty good golfer. In fact, last time I when go Ashley's, the big chichis bartender when try make hustle while her partner in the kitchen cooking pupus (nothing much, KBGs and pupus). Had problem as they when try reserve seats on the counter already occupied by customers without prior notice for one football game. Nowadays it is cat-eat-pussy amongst KBGs and even the owners are in the fray, causing all kine dramas. May * have mercy on us all.

Going take one rare trip to Kalihi to watch the WS today; gong try the places I read about hea, like in the Waiakamilo 5-plex and adjoining areas. LA no moa chance because they outmanned in all positions by Boston (just like the LVBs, lol).

Ashley lease pau soon, Chinese owner likes the land back to make rich.

Get one KB opening where XO is now. Actually, was supposed to open sometime last week but don't know if it is actually open for business at this time. I going try go and report, but not too soon because of personal schedule. Other than that, only going get Twilight (they get the XO transferees), Hot Spot, and the JBar in that spot. Neighboring KB Xclusive just as slow but better with the pupu service; Nina and Ray the only personnel present; nekos steady, but not excessive. Ukupaila parking. Going try the newly opened KB (old XO) soon.

Note: no especially like go to KBs in the immediate Kapiolani / Sheridan / Makaloa / Keeeaumoku DH-side block due to the hauna homeless frequenting to buy one beer in order to use the bathroom; don't know why they're being served in the first place.

They just want to make their kill in the least amount of time spent with each customer unless a big fish. I think that is the greatest underlying problem to their businesses. The owners should require the KBGs to spend an uninterrupted hour or longer with a customer that is willing to drop $200. Not very many people earn $200 an hour. When the drink prices hit $20 is when I began to explore the AMPs. Once the KBGs expected you to buy $40 drinks, now I never go into the KBs unless just to sight see and have a beer or two. Sheesh, after 5 x $40 drinks, that's enough for an enjoyable 1 hour with a pretty AMP girl that's all your's for an hour. And I mean ALL your's for action or even just talk like you do with a KBG if that's your cup of tea. She's naked too. And she's definitely not going to bar hop or dig out on you when a bigger fish arrives. And after sex, you've gotten past any physical barriers between you and the girl. Whereas the KBGs are always at a distance from you while in the bars or even going out to dinner. There's too much deceit with most the KBGs nowadays. They can play verbally manipulative games to separate you from your money, hopes, and time. A KBG's instinct is that if she sees you're interested in her, then she'll lead you on and ask you to put out before anything goes further ("buy me a Chanel bag then we'll get to know each other better"). Then after finally getting to bang her a couple of times then it's "I need a new car". But your disadvantage is that she can bail at anytime and leave you high and dry. Yes indeed, the meek shall inherit the KBs.

Once Upon One Time: One K store was doing really good business; very soon, one nadda K store opens right next door. Next, both stores try for discount their goods in order to drive the odda K store out of business. Then both go broke and out of business.

Let's not forget KBG pride and ego as two of many reasons for the current KB dilemma.
