I've done no where near the level of cruising the Lenny and Lakerfan have done (I pay homage), but I agree very little out (worth picking up). I find it much better to make a call and see if someone is available (or not) when in the area. However I also must admit I don't travel that much outside of Reading road area and Carthage.
