Along San Ysidro Blvd, you can park free on side streets, especially behind the KFC. It's safe there, but watch out for street cleaning days and hours when tow truck bastards are anxious to tow your car.

Don't park in strip malls as store owners collude with tow truck operators to tow your car.

Decided to go down mostly out of curiosity and found it surprisingly easy. Unfortunately, my passport did get stamped. Took the shuttle to Hongkong and walked through to the alley. Two American teens and a Mexican teen were shot to death execution-style and left outside an apartment building in the Mexican border city of Tijuana, authorities said.

The bodies of Christopher Alexis Gomez, 17, and Juan Suarez-Ojeda, 18, both of San Diego, California, as well as Tijuana high school student Angel Said Robles, 17, were found in front of the Lomas Verdes housing complex at 5:50 am On Sunday. Robles is believed to be Suarez-Ojeda's friend.

According to local news outlet Punto Norte, the three teens were tortured before they were shot in the back of the head. No shell casings were found at the scene and not a single witness has come forward.

The LOS Angeles Times reports that Gomez and Suarez-Ojeda crossed the USA -Mexico border last Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, to attend a barbecue in Ensenada, a city in Baja California, Mexico. Relatives confirmed that the teens did make it to the barbecue, and they were supposed to return home the same night. When they didn't, family members contacted authorities and reported them missing.

Yeah truly sad. Something happened and there is probably more to this story. I would look at the guy who was the Tijuana resident first. The lomas verdes area is a area you shouldn't be in. It's not even close to the tourist area. I can tell you this if you mind your business, do your thing and have fun then its all good. Stay in the areas designed for "tourist" unless you are with someone who is very reliable and you trust. I have been going to Tijuana for the last 12 years with over 30+ crossings and zero incidents. I have also been as far as Ensenada and Rosarito on a few occasions. I went to Tijuana last night, stayed over, and came back across no issues at all.

This has been said dozens of times before and will be again in the future but the safety environment is the same.

Stay on the touristy parts, don't walk drunk in public (uber or taxi if you must move bars more than a 1/2 block) and keep your phon e in your pocket. You will be safer than walking in San diego. Anyone who speaks perfect English is a huge red flag when you are outside. Mongers / Gringos in the club are ok, but none will hail / address you outside unless they are idiots. Stay away from idiots, deportees and anyone yelling "quantos. ".

Follow this and you will resonably be sure of never seeing harm unless you walk up on thee scene of someone who didn't follow these rules.

The migrant issue seems to be having a lesser effect on border crossing. The only real differences now are increased helicopters hovering (usually DHS), policia and Federales, as well as humanitarian / news reporters near El Chaparral. I messed with one on Friday. I was walking off the new bridge towards El Chaparral when two reporters with cameras were getting onto the bridge. I jokingly said "you missed it, they all went home," thinking the absurdity of it would make it an obvious ruse / joke, but the female journalist looked very distressed, stopped crossing and said "really? Theres no one there? They all left?" I felt bad instantly because she looked genuinely sad, and so I said "No, I'm just kidding with you. They are all still there. ".

The thing to remember about the Zona is that crime tends to fluctuate up and down. So it is important to always keep your guard up and try to stay aware of the trends in the Zona. When crime is on the rise or when another drug gang is moving in the rateros will become more active sometimes. When I am in the Zona I constantly look to see who is behind me. Last night I gave some change to this one guy and he started following me Sometimes if a suspicious person is behind me I will stop look toward them and wait for them to pass me.

Ive been crept up on at random times but cant really attribute it anything but me letting my situational awareness drop. I dont first hand know anyone killed. I do have friends who had friends/acquaintances killed but they either sold drugs (cuantos guy killed at back door of HK in alley) or snitched (walker killed with a couple guys she hung with just west of the alley).

The situation has improved a bit in the Zona since last Fall / Winter. The Ratero's were much more active in the Zona last Fall / Winter on Constitucion. The Ratero's were mugging people in plain view on the north side between Calle Primera and Cohuilla street. The one good thing is that police have arrested or chased away most of the Ratero's in the Zona now. I have seen very few police on the pedestrian bridge area lately. It is really ridiculous that the city has not fixed the lights on pedestrian bridge ramps and stairs. Part of the problem is that police corruption is still rampant and LE efforts is largely reactive.

Personally it's really worth looking for SG's until 12 pm. These days you have to spend a min of $20 to find any SG's worth going with. These days I usually don't arrive in the Zona till around 6 pm or 7 pm. Although sometimes I can find Jamie around 3 pm if I am lucky. Personally I go for US girls so it typically takes 1-3 hours to find a good one.

Even though it was raining, I decided to make a visit in the morning. I went through PedWest with no issues at 930 and took a cab to HK.

Inside I got a beer and sat down just to observe for a minute. One girl walked up to me and struck a conversation. She looked good enough so I just decided to get a lap dance, just to get warmed up. Way to low? My numbers were dollars not pesos. Yes if you deal with SW then I would assume you can get a low rate. I usually use the sam agency that all their ladies are GFE.

Personally I have no qualms with negotiating lower price or at least a reasonable one. I do believe that it is important to be nice to the girls. When you are ready to go she's right there and waiting. For me, in only made sense if there was some rapport with the girl. Most of them have some interesting stories to tell. They also like to get out of the Zona (movie, civi clubs, etc.). Of course the chicas are always ready for a meal. And they usually know some good places to go.

A side benefit: if she can / will go with you to some of the other bars it gives you a sort of status. Like you're some sort of insider. Pays benefits next time you hit that bar solo.
