It affordably allows you to create a separate number you can use just for this type thing. This way a provider doesn't have your "normal" cell number. It's a good app for a monger and keeps things separate and more confidential.

Pay phones will usually NOT work. I think some providers (at least the more upscale ones) do a quick light screening based on your cell phone number where they get your name and address. At least that is my understanding. Most providers also do not give you all the information that you need (such as room number or apartment number) until you arrive in the parking lot or some other location very close to them. If you call from a different pay phone than before, that may raise red flags. Worse yet, there probably won't be a cell phone at that location. Bottom line: you need a cell phone.

Text Plus is an app that will also do the job.
