Good luck to them in this economy. Maybe most of the girls you've met were bargirls who I hear are more expensive.

Since returning to Southern Cal I'm feeling post-Thailand depression! You Seattleities are fortunate to have a street scene. IMO here in socal the street aren't even worth cruising. The girls of Thailand are so polite, so willing to please, so not addicted to substances. The leo of Thailand have literally zero interest in hassling mongers. Thailand is like another planet where sex so readily available that it almost becomes boring.- leaving such a world for the puritan USA can be a bit traumatic! A good place to retire to, too, as it's easy to find an apt there for a couple hundred $ a month.

the term "girly bar" was frequently used by a guy named al bundy on tv, but again, only in reference to legal age women, so i think popular usage of that term is understood as such.

unfortunately, you've fallen prey to the usual line of bullshit, propagated by women's groups and anti-porn crusaders. "children" are not available for sale in thailand. this is an old old chestnut that has been bantered for years and offered up as proof of the evils of prostitution for decades. if it ever was true in thailand, it no longer is. families don't sell their children into slavery. what does happen, though, is that the more attractive girls from the villages do travel to the cities to make a living, with the hopes of sending money back to their family and "earning merit" which is a thai buddhist concept. the age of consent in thailand (and in many other countries) is different than the usa, 16 i believe, but the minimum age to work in a bar is 18. the hotels require any "guests" to show positive thai id and must be a minimum 18 years old. it is strictly enforced. there are still stories of girls 16 and 17 working in bars on rare occasions, but it is the exception rather than the rule. it is easier to find 16 year old sex workers in any usa city than it is in thailand.

I decided to cruise through Denny at about 6:30 yesterday just to check the action. Once I got down there, I immediately came upon a tall BSW (I think) with a scarf tied over her head and a green army-type jacket. She was carrying a bunch of shit but I knew she was working.
